Olaf For a Day: In the Disney Frozen Recording Booth! #DisneyFrozenEvent

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

Disney has provided me with an expense paid trip to Hollywood for the Disney Frozen Event in exchange for my review of the events of the trip.   No other compensation was given. The opinions and experiences in my posts are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

FROZEN

All of the characters in Disney Frozen have stolen my heart but I have a real soft spot for Olaf.  Have you seen the movie yet? It’s in theaters now and it’s FANTASTIC!!  If you’ve seen it you know what a sweetie Olaf is. One of my favorite parts of the Disney Frozen Press Day was getting into the recording booth and voicing Olaf.  Who wouldn’t want to be Olaf for a day?

Gabe Guy Disney Frozen Sound Mixer

Gabe Guy is the Sound Mixer that worked on Frozen. He’s also worked on Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, and the short film GET A HORSE!  It was really fun to chat with him for a bit before we each took our turn in the recording booth.  There’s so much that goes into a movie like this that it’s hard to keep track of what happens when.  The voices are actually recorded before the animation and not the other way around to make the animation more believable. Makes sense.

Voice over Olaf

So there I am, in the recording booth.  It’s a little intimidating in there behind that glass with all your friends watching!  But this is SO much fun. Fortunately for me I had done this once before, voicing Dottie from Planes, and I wasn’t quite as freaked out this time.  They actually make it really easy with all the words right up on a screen in front of you and a countdown when to to start and a timer to show how long you have to squeeze in your lines.

Recording my Olaf Voice Over

How did I do? You can tell I was a little nervous but having fun!  Want to see how it came together with the animation? This is the best part!

It’s Me…as Olaf!

The timing isn’t exactly perfect but I think it came out pretty awesome!  My kids just love to watch this, Mommy voicing Olaf.  What a blast this was to make!

Lindsay and Olaf

Me and my buddy Olaf. Ah, I feel like I know him so much better now after BEING him for 30 seconds.   😉     If you haven’t seen the movie yet, make your plans to get to the theater soon!  You’re going to love it!
