Disney has provided me with an expense paid trip to Los Angeles for the #MaleficentEvent and #FireAndRescueEvent in exchange for my review of the events of the trip. No other compensation is given. The opinions and experiences in my posts are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE is in theaters TODAY! You guys, you have to go see this movie (you can order tickets here)! I feel like I’ve been waiting forward for it to come out so I can go take the family. Yes, family, not just the kids. I know my husband is going to love it and my Mom is visiting and she’s coming too. It’s so fantastic, such a great animated feature with amazing effects, lovable new characters, and inspirational messages everywhere. Here are just a few reasons why you should get to the theater as soon as you can!
6 Reasons You Need to See PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE
1. The Excitement
This movie is so action-packed and there are a couple of scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat. All the effects – fire, water, smoke – make it visually stunning and just super exciting. There’s a little bit of danger and a whole lotta heroes.
2. The Feels
I admit I actually did tear up a time or two, mostly over these two, Winnie and Harvey. They are two RVs, in love today as much as they were when they married many years ago. They are voiced by the husband-and-wife duo, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara who are absolutely perfect for this role. You let me know if you shed a tear over them. They’re adorable. And they’re not the only ones that bring a little emotion to the film. There’s an underlying theme of second chances and I think that resonates with all of us in one way or another. The feels are definitely there but they’re all good, no worries there.
3. The Laughs
Oh Dipper, you crack me up. She’s played by Julie Bowen who is the perfect sassy little plane. I think my favorite funny character is Maru. That’s him above, the smart mechanic at the Piston Peak Air Base. He doesn’t have a lot to work with so he has to be resourceful and is know to make things “better than new” when he fixes them up. He’s got an awesome sarcastic delivery, something I can truly appreciate. Tons of great laughs in PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE!
4. The Education
In addition to being entertaining this movie is educational, both for kids and adults. I had no idea what really went into fighting fires from the skies but it’s a lot more than dumping water on trees. Not only that, they work in some great fire safety messages like the importance of putting out your campfire when you’re done. There’s an excellent learning opportunity here for kids and they can have fun with it with this free printable educational activity book. The movie itself will teach them more than a thing or two, too, of course!
5. The Tribute
There was a TON of research that went into this movie. All kinds of experts that know what they’re doing fighting fires were brought in to consult and in the end, this movie was made to be a tribute to them. You can read my full interview with Director Bobs Gannaway and Producer Ferrell Barron to understand more about their intent to honor these heroes, but I have to share this one quote that I love:
“The fire fighters are everything you think they are. They were — they were amazing, giving, caring, courageous people, so charming, and so giving with their time and wanting to help. It was really a wonderful experience and they’ve become friends of ours now. ” – Bobs Gannaway, Director PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE
6. The THUNDAAAA!
If you’re not ready to jump out of your seat and rock out when AC/DC comes on (yes, my fellow children of the 90s – AC/DC) then I don’t even KNOW you! See for yourself:
