We were provided with complimentary tickets to Cinderella in exchange for my review. The opinions and experiences in my posts are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
Showing live now at the Hershey Theatre is Tony-Award Winning Cinderella and it’s a beautiful fairy tale come true! I was invited to attend the show last night, and unfortunately couldn’t make it myself (it was my birthday and family tradition of dinner out had to come first!), but a good friend and contributor was able to attend on my behalf with her daughter. You might remember Mary from her fantastic review of Matilda at the Hershey Theater, and I’m so glad she was able to go and share her thoughts with us.
You can find Cinderella playing at the Hershey Theatre through Sunday January 31 and order your tickets here. It’s worth mentioning again that although I couldn’t make this show, I do LOVE the Hershey Theatre. Get there early so you have time to walk around. It’s gorgeous!

Does that clip leave you ready to go to the ball?!
So what did we think of Cinderella?
We love it for young theater-goers! Mary put together a great review for us that almost makes me feel like I got to see the show myself!
Cinderella at the Hershey Theater is the perfect show for your emerging theatre enthusiast to start out on. It’s a perfectly family-friendly show with content appropriate for the smallest child to the most mature adult. From the first sets, they captured the magic and allure of the Enchanted Forest and continued that feeling of magic and dreamlike quality throughout the entire show. Some of the best highlights include the incredible and awe-inspiring costume changes that happen on stage but leave you questioning how they did that!
Among other notable and amazing costumes is the Ballroom Scene, where each gown is a different shade of puffed tulle that is a feast of color and Victorian costuming romance for the eyes. Each dance movement sends the layers billowing wide reminding you of every little girl who puts on her first dress and spins wildly.
Additionally there are scenes where the Fairy Godmother floats through the air. It provides the feeling of weightlessness and wonderment that will enrapture and endear every little girl to the stage and this show. And special props to Lauren Lukacek, the actress, whose vocals never waiver under these nerving airborne conditions. Also quite remarkable in the vocal area is Lord Pinkleton, Chauncey Packer, whose voice is amazing, full and filled with rich warmth. I could never quite figure out if I liked listening to him better with my eyes open or closed. “The Prince is Giving A Ball” showcased his talents and was the first number that sent my anticipation to the level of expectancy that made me move forward in my seat waiting for more.
Although the leads’ acting felt one-noted at times the overall show was filled with masterful acting from other supporting characters. The stepmother and both stepsisters will make you laugh, cringe, hate or love them at all the appropriate times. The jokes and witty one-liners are written so that every age group will understand and giggle or howl with laughter.
Overall, it was a show that delivered on the fantasy of every little girl. As we left, many younger attendees who wore their own ballgowns excitedly chattered to their companions on how cute the Prince was and raved about how much they loved the show. It will make a wonderful night out for you, your family or whomever you choose to take with you!
