The holidays are coming and I know lots of kids are hoping for a Nintendo gaming system or some new games for the ones they have. As a parent it can be tough to know what’s the latest and greatest and what games are best for the age groups you need to shop for. And with the new WiiU, you might even have questions about compatibility. Thankfully Nintendo is jumping it to make this all much easier (and FUN!) with the new Play Nintendo website!
Fun for Kids
Play Nintendo is a blast for kids. Below is a quick look at some of the eye-catching options for kids to explore on the site.
Five things beginners should know about playing The Legend of Zelda, personality quizzes, interactive games, and SO much more.
If you click the Explore menu item these options come up so kids have their choice of how to use the site. Click on News & Tips for info on the latest game releases and tips for playing your favorite games at a whole ‘nother level!
Who’s your favorite Nintendo character? I have to say Mario because I spent half my youth helping him save the princess! Your kids can choose Friends from the menu to select their favorite characters and learn every little thing there is to know about them.
News for Parents
Play Nintendo has a fantastic section for parents. In the right upper corner, click ‘Parents‘ to get there. There are TONS of helpful resources. Here are a few of my favorite finds so far.
I love some of these articles they have about keeping your kids safe online, which games are best for beginners, which games are good for the entire family to play together and more. There’s even an article there now on how to make homework less of a chore. Let’s print that out and frame it in my kitchen, m’kay?
Here’s a screen shot of the menu you’ll get when you hover over Show Me. So you can explore the games (this is perfect for holiday shopping tips!), any upcoming events, and hardware and services. I know a lot of people have questions about the Wii U and how it works, if your Wii games will work in it (they will!) and more.
If you click that Hardware & Services menu item one of the articles is Crash Course: Wii U GamePad. Parents that aren’t familiar with the WiiU can learn everything there is to know about it: how it works, what all the buttons do, what makes it more interactive, and if it’s compatible with your current system. Any info you’re looking for to help you shop is going to be easily accessed on this site. Win!
Go explore the Play Nintendo website and see what helpful info you can find while you’re making your holiday shopping decisions. Plus the site is FUN! 🙂
