Half Shell Raw Bar Key West
Located in the Key West Historic Seaport, the Half Shell Raw Bar strikes the perfect balance between fantastic food and a casual atmosphere.
The dining room is full of picnic tables where customers enjoy their meals. The restaurant is situated right next to the dock so you can see the water and watch boats come and go as you eat.
And for decor? License plates. They are everywhere, and from everywhere. We had fun trying to find one from Pennsylvania. There’s one in this picture. Do you see it?
Half Shell Raw Bar Menu
The Half Shell Raw Bar menu is SO good for seafood lovers. Of course there’s a Raw Bar section filled with fresh shellfish.
And I do mean fresh! There’s actually a fish market in the restaurant that’s open from 11am to 5pm, and fishermen bring their catches for the Half Shell Raw Bar to use in the restaurant, and to sell in the market.
The seafood is absolutely amazing, but if you happen to be traveling with anyone that isn’t a fan, they do have burgers, chicken, and steak on the menu, too.
They also have a fantastic bar menu, and I loved that they had a whole page of non-alcoholic unique drinks. This was perfect for my teenagers, and great for anyone who prefers a mocktail to a cocktail.
I ordered the cocktail above, Lime in the Coconut, and it was wonderful after a hot day in the sun.
Half Shell Raw Bar Reviews
Of course we ordered a bunch of seafood! For an appetizer, we had oysters on the half shell. They were fresh and delicious.
Mussels were on the raw bar menu but my daughter made a meal out of them. She ate every last one. They were wonderful!
I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Pasta and it was fantastic. So, so good. There was a little bit of heat in the pasta, just enough to make it pop. And the pasta was perfectly al dente. There were a lot of shrimp in the dish, too.
I highly recommend this dish if you love seafood and pasta (two of my favorites)!
My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp and loved it. Everything we ordered was fantastic – super fresh, cooked perfectly, and served with a smile.
We were pretty stuffed when we left, but every one of us said, “Wow, that was so good.”
Best Seafood Restaurants in Key West
The Half Shell Raw Bar in Key West is the real deal. Sometimes you dine at a fancy seafood restaurant and the fancy part is the restaurant, not so much the seafood.
At the Half Shell, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, but the seafood is high-end, topnotch fare. It’s fresh and delicious, and literally every dish we had on our table was wonderful. You can’t miss no matter what you order!
