What Is A Time Capsule
A time capsule is a sealed container that holds memories and keepsakes of a certain event or period of time.
Time capsules are meant to preserve a piece of history to be revisited in the future, usually several years down the road. This year was anything but dull, so it’s the perfect time to capture the things that stood out to us the most, and save it to relive (do we want to relive any of this?!) in 10 years or so.
In 2020, I wrote this post with some ideas for what to put in your time capsule.
How to Make a Time Capsule
Time capsules can be made using any kind of sealed container. Some people bury them under the ground, but this isn’t really necessary.
Choose a container that you like best. You can go with something like this metal time capsule, or a glass jar with a lid works well. Those are fun for the kids because they can decorate the outside with markers or stickers.
There are some ready-made kids’ time capsules on Amazon, too. And in a pinch, a shoebox is fine..
Then fill your container with your keepsakes, memories, and things that will help you recall the highlights (or lowlights!) of this year.
2021 is a year to remember, even if we’d like to forget a lot of it! Use this printable and time capsule idea, or some other way you find, to preserve what you remember, and what stood out most to you. You’ll want to look back on it one day!
