I’ve been blogging for over a year now and have put off making my media kit for just as long. Gathering all the info and presenting it in an attractive and concise way just felt overwhelming for some reason and I always have more pressing blogging work to do, so I’ve put it off. So I was super thrilled when I had the opportunity to review WOMinfo Custom Media Kits. Just the kick in the pants I needed to get my media kit done once and for all.
So what is a media kit? It’s sort of like a resume for bloggers. Include a picture of yourself, some background information about you, your audience demographics, a list of your current traffic numbers, and a list of some companies you’ve worked with. It’s a snapshot look for potential sponsors to see what you want them to see about you and your site. And it’s a great way to organize important information about your blog in one nice, neat package.
WOMinfo provides several media kit templates you can choose from to either create your own media kit, or you can choose a template and send them all of your data and they’ll create it for you. That’s what I opted to do. It was easier for me because they asked me for exactly what they needed and I didn’t have to worry that I was accidentally omitting something. If you just buy their templates they’re $14.95 each. If you want them to create a custom kit for you the price is $29.95. You can edit your kit in Photoshop or Elements (there’s a free trial available if you don’t have it) so this is a once-and-done deal. You pay for it once and then you always have it. It’s a great investment in your blog.
When I sent PR inquiries to companies I like to tell them a little bit about myself and now doing that is a snap. I don’t have to write it out. Instead I can attach a link to my Media Kit which I like better, it’s much more visually pleasing than just text in an email, and they can see me, my background, and some information about my blog.
Check out some of the templates WOMinfo offers for blogger media kits. They’ve got 6 styles to choose from ranging from kinda fun and playful to more formal and traditional. Of course I went with the fun and playful template #1 for my kit and I really like how it came out! The colors are a pretty close match to my blog and the information is well organized. Check out my Media Kit and see how it came out!
I got a first draft back, sent back a couple of edits and had my final copy back the same day. WOMinfo works fast and provides great customer services. My emails were answered very quickly. Other than wishing I could tweak the colors of them templates a bit for a closer match to my blog’s theme, I have no complaints or suggestions for a better outcome. I’m really happy with my new media kit and so glad that I finally have it done and have a professional representation to sent to potential sponsors!
WOMinfo is committed to building a community of strong women bloggers and businesses. They share a lot of great resources so be sure to check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
WOMinfo is generously offering one of my readers their very own media kit. The winner can choose from a template which they can then complete on their own, or a customized kit which WOMinfo will complete for you when you provide the information! This giveaway is open worldwide and the prize will be delivered via email. It ends on October 16, 2012 at 12 midnight ET. You can enter to win [HERE].
I was provided with a complimentary media kit from WOMinfo to facilitate this review. The opinions in this post are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
