Wildwood SoapWorks Giveaway: Buzzed All-Natural Bug & Tick Spray (ends 6/10/12)

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

buzzed

Warm weather is finally upon us (three cheers!) and while I’m happy we can pack the coats away for a few months, there are a few downfalls to the heat.  Top of the list: bugs.  As I type a fly is buzzing around my computer.  My kids have yet to master this shut-the-door-when-you-go-outside concept. Still, flies are pretty harmless as dirty insects go.  It’s the mosquitoes and things that bite and sting that I really don’t like.  Who does, right?!

So what do you do about it?  Spray yourself and your kids with nasty chemicals like DEET to keep the biters at bay.  Yuk.  Fortunately for us, Wildwood SoapWorks comes to the rescue with an all-natural insect repellent.  Buzzed Natural Bug and Tick Spray contains no DEET, and no other chemicals not found in nature.  Who knew you could keep the mosquitos away with a natural product?  Not me.  I have to say, I was skeptical.

We went to the beach for a long Memorial Day weekend and got the chance to test out Buzzed.  The beach, even in all it’s wonder, is thick with bugs.  We walk through the dunes to get to the ocean and the flies are heavy and you’ve really got to watch out for the green head flies.  Their bite flat out HURTS.  We were getting ready to walk down to the beach one evening when I broke out my bottle of Buzzed and started spritzing.

My husband was letting the dog out while my finger was on the trigger and as soon as he walked back inside he said to the kids, “Oh boy.  What did you get into?”  I showed him my little bottle as an explanation.  He smelled the Buzzed right away and thought the kids got into some kind of perfume in the bathroom.  I learned two things from this: This stuff smells like perfume.  When’s the last time you had that reaction to bug spray?  And, spray it outside.  While it smells great, it’s a stronger smell and in a confined space it can be a bit too much.

Off to the beach we went.  And guess what?  Not one bug bite.  Now the bugs weren’t especially thick that night, but they were there.  And we were safe. That’s me and my dog, Sam, having some fun in the sand, not worrying about bugs. I love that I didn’t have to coat my kids in nasty chemicals to keep them from being eaten alive by mosquitoes.  Buzzed worked just as well, if not better, than the stuff you buy on store shelves.

So what’s in this stuff? Fractionated coconut oil, pure Canadian Catnip extract, and essential oils of lavender, rosemary, patchouli, lemongrass, and eucalyptus. It’s hard to believe that that all-natural combination is the ticket to repelling all sorts of bugs, but it is.  This stuff will help you steer clear of mosquitoes, ticks, gnats, no-see-ums, black flies, green head flies, chiggers and other things you want no where near you or your kids.

I think it’s pretty awesome that you have the option to not soak yourself or your family in chemicals in order to protect yourself from the summer bugs.  And I can tell you this little 2oz. bottle is going to last us a loooong time.  I applied it pretty generously last weekend and it still looks full.  So it’s a good deal, too, which of course I love. And the bottle is small enough to tuck into your purse, backpack, even your pocket, to take with you camping or wherever you may need protection from buzzing bugs.

Wildwood SoapWorks is generously offering 4 of my readers a bottle of their own Buzzed Natural Bug Spray.  There is only one mandatory entry.  Visit the Wildwood SoapWorks website and read what they have to say about this product.  When would you use it the most?  There are a bunch of ways to earn additional optional entries, too. This giveaway is open to U.S. and Canadian residents and ends on Sunday June 10 at 12 midnight ET.  Wait for the Rafflecopter to load below to enter to win.

Good luck!

I would use it most when sitting out on the deck to read. I love to sit out and read but by the middle of June or so there are just too many mosquitos and flies to do so and be comfortable. It would be nice to still be able to sit out all summer long!
