I am counting down the days until Wegmans Food Markets Lancaster, PA opens its doors! Mark your calendars for September 23 for the grand opening celebration! Wegmans just launched a page just for our local Lancaster store so be sure to check that out for more information and to sign up for a Wegmans Shoppers Club card.

Wegmans Lancaster, PA is opening this September and I'm counting down until I can stock my kitchen with Wegmans brand products. Local, organic, free from additives, and other perks of buying from my favorite market are included in the post. Beware: you'll want to dive into the photos and go shopping!

Last month I shared why Wegmans is already such a good neighbor for our local Lancaster, PA community. Not only do they have some amazing programs for employees and partnerships with our area events, but through their company mission they help ALL of us benefit:

WEGMANS’ MISSION IS HELPING PEOPLE LIVE HEALTHIER, BETTER LIVES THROUGH FOOD.

5 Reasons I Buy Wegmans Brand Products for My Family

Wegmans brand products are my go-to when I shop in their stores for a variety of reasons. Read on to see what I look for, and what you can look forward to when the Lancaster Wegmans opens September 23!

Wegmans Offers a Huge Organics Selection

The demand for organic foods has skyrocketed over the past few years. I know that when given the choice, I reach for organic products whenever possible. And there are a handful of things that I will only buy organic: milk, chicken, and eggs are a few.

Wegmans is committed to organics because they are produced more sustainably, contain nothing artificial, and taste great. As a mom, I just feel better about feeding my family foods that don’t have any extra ‘stuff’ in them. And it’s also good to know that when you buy organic, you are avoiding GMOs. That USDA Organic label means products meet their organic standards, which prohibit the use of GMOs.

Wegmans offers more than 4,000 organic items throughout the store, and more are on the way. When I walk into Wegmans, particularly into the produce section, I’m just struck by this feeling that I’m in a place where there are healthy, wholesome food choices available and it makes me want to eat better, and feed my family better. I love that that Wegmans not only inspires me to make healthier selections, but makes that easy to do.

Partnerships with Family Farms Near Our Stores

Local, organic, free from additives, and other perks of buying from my favorite market are included in the post. Beware: you'll want to dive into the photos and go shopping!

Wegmans understands that people like to know where their food comes from. And I know many of us like the feeling of supporting our local farmers, so the Near Our Stores initiative is definitely one I appreciate. Wegmans partners with local farms that share their commitment to high quality.

Lancaster, PA, you’ll find items in our store from these local farms, which are just some of Wegmans’ local growing partners, among others:

  • Hershey’s Lancaster Beef – East Donegal, PA. Wegmans has partnered with father-son duo Steve and Seth Hershey to offer Lancaster-raised black angus from multi-generational family farms right here in Lancaster County.
  • Sunny Acres Produce – Willow Street and Strasburg, PA. This farm currently supplies seven Wegmans stores in PA and Lancaster will be the eighth. For the Lancaster store opening, it’s anticipated that we’ll find broccoli, winter squash, and perhaps pumpkins from Sunny Acres. Later in the fall, customers can shop for local cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Love summer produce? During the warm weather months, Sunny Acres supplies nearby Wegmans stores with corn, tomatoes, summer squash, peppers, melons, beans, cooking greens, and salad leaf.
  • Spiral Path Farm – Loysville, PA. Since 2003, the Brownback family has supplied Wegmans with a variety of fresh produce, like tomatoes and salad greens, from their certified organic farm. The Brownback family has called their farm home since 1978. They farm 255 acres that have been certified organic since 1994. I LOVE this video that gives us a real look at how Wegmans partners with farmers in our communities.

Wellness Keys Make It Easy to Shop For Your Diet

I’ve really started paying more attention to food labels and it’s a lot of information to take in. If you’re shopping for a particular diet – vegan, gluten-free, low-sodium, etc., Wegmans makes it SO easy to stay on track.

Look for the Wellness Keys ‘dots’ on Wegmans Brand products and recipes to quickly find the nutritional info you’re looking for. These labels show you at a glance how each food helps to meet your health and wellness goals.  Following U.S. government regulations, here are all the nutrition-focused Wellness Keys you’ll see in the store:

  • G – Gluten Free
  • L – Lactose Free
  • V – Vegan
  • LS – Low Sodium
  • (grain icon) – Whole Grain
  • (heart icon) – Heath Healthy
  • HF – High Fiber
  • HC – High Calcium
  • LF – Low Fat

Food You Feel Good About

Just as I love Wegmans Organics, I am a fan of their Food You Feel Good About. This label was launched in 1991 (so they were ahead of the no-preservative curve!) to pursue a commitment to great taste with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. In the last several years, they have improved over 2,000 Wegmans items, making nearly a whopping 90% of all Wegmans brand items meet the Food You Feel Good About standard.

What does Food You Feel Good About really mean?

  • Great taste
  • No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives
  • Free of trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils
  • No high fructose corn syrup
  • No artificial sweeteners

Look for that yellow ‘Food You Feel Good About’ banner on Wegmans products throughout the store!

Consistent Low Prices

No one’s got time to run to multiple grocery stores for the best deals each week. I’m too busy running two kids to soccer practice, games, friends’ houses…you know the drill, mamas. Wegmans has got us covered with their Consistent Low Prices commitment. No need for us to flip through multiple store flyers and find the best price. They do it! Wegmans checks prices at other retailers every week to ensure their customers can shop with confidence AND within their budget. I know I can hit this one store and walk out with the best deals.

Bonus: Many of the Wegmans brand items fall under their Food You Feel Good About label (90% of Wegmans items!), so not only can I save money by shopping at Wegmans, but I’m also buying products that are more wholesome for my family. That’s a win-win!

Another Bonus: Look for Family Packs, like the bigger containers of berries and meats, to save even more – 30% or more! If your kids can go through one of those big raspberry packs in one day (raising my hand over here), Family Packs are going to be a lifesaver when it comes to getting the best bang for your buck.
