There’s more fun than ever waiting for you in Hershey, PA! This Memorial Day 2016 the brand new Hershey’s Water Works at Hershey Lodge opens and it is AMAZING. I was invited to attend a media preview last week and my kids had the BEST time. The whole family did! I have lots to show you in the pics below!
Hershey’s Water Works at Hershey Lodge is only open to overnight guests of the Hershey Lodge, and there are already a bunch of perks to staying at an official Hershey resort, so now you have one more! Plus because this water park is inside it’s open year round. Yay!
Hershey’s Water Works at Hershey Lodge
I made this video to give you a live tour of the venue. The water is a little bit of a loud background noise so you might hear my voice better at a lower volume, but this is a great look at everything you’ll find at the new Water Works! I’ve included more pictures and detail below, too.
3 Water Play Areas
There are 3 distinct water play areas at the Water Works. I won’t call them pools because really only one is a ‘pool’ pool. This is the first one and it’s just perfect for younger kids. There are some fun water features like an umbrella waterfall and the buckets on the lighthouse spill water, too.
This pool is zero entry, so kids can get in slowly and it’s only 2 feet deep which is perfect for little ones. Even my older kids had a blast under this umbrella!
The second pool is the largest of the three and though it’s one big pool it’s kind of divided into different activity areas. On the far side you can see the basketball nets.
This is also where you’ll find the Reese’s Water Walk which my daughter just LOVED!
And there’s plenty of room to swim and splash around in this pool too. There’s one section that is 5′ deep and it’s roped off. The rest of the pool is between 3.5′ and 4.5′ deep. My son is 7 and he was easily able to stand and move around on his own.
The third water area is perfect for very little kids that just like to splash around. Really fun water features are everywhere, complete with cool slides! There’s really only a few inches of water on the ground here so if you have a new little water baby, this is a great place to play!
And of course my daughter is not a new little water baby but it’s hard to resist spraying Mom with a water cannon!
Twizzler Twists
Twizzler Twists are two water slides that are so much fun! This is a one-rider slide, so kids have to be ready to ride alone (but don’t worry, there were some very little ones riding and having a blast!).
The slides go outside of the building and you can kind of see that one of them lets in more light than the other. More on that in my video above!
Whirlpool
When Mom and Dad need a little breather from the splashing, this whirlpool is reserved for adults. Ahhh, I’ll be there if you need me.
Finally, in the pool area (pretty close to the entrance to the Water Works) you’ll find life vests for the kids if needed, and towels are also provided.
Food & Games
Work up an appetite in the water? Hit the Cocoa Cabana for a bite to eat. There’s a yummy menu here with chicken fingers, loaded fries, milkshakes, and more. (Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake – get one. You’re welcome.)
I had one of these delicious Candy Twist drinks. Yum!
Just outside of the pool area are the game and activity rooms. These are two separate rooms where kids (and adults – I love me some skee ball!) can have a ton of fun.
The activity room includes these seriously awesome tables and benches with fun games provided. Plus there is a LEGO table in here for your little builders.
In the game room you’ll find Skee Ball, racing games, air hockey, basketball game and a lot more. We had so much fun in here and I just want you to know my high score on that basketball game was 45. I didn’t even know I was good at basketball but I REALLY AM.
Hershey’s Water Works at Hershey Lodge is SO much fun! I can’t say this enough – it’s SO family friendly. The pools are just the right size and depth for little kids, and it’s laid out in a way that Mom and Dad can really keep an eye on everyone while having a great time themselves.
