I like to cook but I have to admit, sometimes I am just too busy to get overly creative in the kitchen. Next thing you know I’ve fallen into the rut of making the same old dishes over and over again. So it’s pretty awesome when you discover a line of products that can spiff up almost any meal regardless of what you’re making. Veri Peri makes some seriously flavorful hot sauces that work well with any dish.
Let me first say I’m not a big hot sauce person. My husband likes it a lot but I’m just not a fan of having my mouth on fire. So I was a little bit cautious trying these sauces. Veri Peri makes five flavors of sauces: Veri Hot, Hot, Mild, Lemon & Herb, and Garlic. All of their sauces are made with the African Bird’s Eye Chili and honestly, I’ve never tasted anything like them before. Like I said, not a big fan of hot sauce. But these are totally different than what you’d typically think of as hot sauce. First of all they’re not burn-your-mouth hot. They have a very smooth flavor and although there’s definitely some heat there it’s not anything uncomfortable. Even my kids love these sauces!
The African Bird’s Eye Chili is considered the truffle of chilies, hand-picked and also called the Peri-Peri. These sauces are actually made in South Africa and imported to the United States by Victorious Solutions LLC, owned by Victoria Neale who fell in love with Veri Peri when traveling in South Africa and decided these sauces needed to be here in the US, too. I’m so glad she did! These are definitely my go-to sauces when I’m cooking and eating.
Probably the biggest thing that stands out to me about Veri Peri products is how flavorful they are. A little really goes a lot way. And by flavor I mean actual taste, not just heat. My favorite sauces are the Lemon & Herb and the Garlic. They have fantastic flavor and I used them on a bunch of different meals. I loved that I could easily dress up an otherwise boring meal with a splash of one of these sauces and turn it into something totally different (and fancier!)!
The Lemon & Herb sauce is awesome on salmon. The night I made salmon we also grilled squash and I made couscous. I put some of this sauce on both of those sides, too, and they were great!
I used some of the Mild sauce on some chicken and it was great. My husband opted for the Hot sauce and he loved it too. This we just poured on top and didn’t actually cook with the chicken so we each got to choose our own flavor.
I made a really yummy pasta dish with the garlic sauce. I used a bit to flavor these veggies I sauteed and then added a little more once I mixed them in with the pasta. It was soooo good!
I love how versatile Veri Peri is. Use it as a marinade, a dip, a sauce, an ingredient, anything you can come up with! I’ve put it on meat, pasta, rice and seafood. It’s great to have just one product that you can always turn to when you need a little something to zip up a meal. Veri Peri is also gluten-free, dairy-free, and low carb so it fits well into any diet.
Veri Peri sauces are super flavorful and if you have a foodie on your gift list this year these would make great stocking stuffers! Veri Peri sauces are available for purchase on the Veri Peri site or on Amazon and they’re only $4.99 per bottle! I can tell you a bottle lasts a long time, too.
