The Hersheypark 2018 season is about to kick off, with the park opening for weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) starting April 27 and then full time beginning Memorial Day weekend, May 24. As a 2018 Sweetest Moms Ambassador, I’ve partnered with Hershey to share all the best of the destination. There’s always something fun and new in Hershey and this year we are SO excited about the new water attractions!
The Boardwalk at Hersheypark is an 11-acre water park, included in your admission to Hersheypark. There are more than 16 attractions here, and this year they’re adding two more awesome family-friendly rides!
Two New Water Rides at Hersheypark In 2018
Hersheypark is adding more than 40,000 gallons of water to The Boardwalk at Hersheypark, their water park within the amusement park, in the form of two new rides. The new attractions will be located between Shoreline Sprayground attraction and Intercoastal Waterway lazy river and are slated to debut for Memorial Day weekend of 2018. What I love is that both rides are family-friendly and have a height requirement of a Reese’s category and up (42” and up)!
Breakers Edge Water Coaster
Breakers Edge Water Coaster will be the world’s first HydroMAGNETIC water coaster (the 14th coaster at Hersheypark) with flying saucer turns to smoothly rocket riders through splash-filled hills and sweet thrills that are perfect for the whole family. The four-person inline raft gives families a bobsled ride feeling as gravity drops and smooth Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) power guests up and down hills and turns. The ride time is about 1 minute, and I’m excited that my whole family of four can ride together!
The video above gives you a better look at the layout of both of these rides. Don’t they look so fun?! If Breakers Edge is the one your family rides as a team, Whitecap Racer is every man/woman/child for his or herself. Getcha game face on, fam.
Whitecap Racer
Whitecap Racer will be the world’s longest mat racer and will take guests 70 feet high as they race to the finish in six side-by-side tunnels to the bottom. Each rider speeds through two tight 360-degree loops, while open racing lanes with low separator lanes allow racers to see and hear each other as they challenge each other using a slider timing system. This is GAME ON in a family race to the finish!
I think these tunnels let enough light in that you’re not going through in the dark, which is good for me. The race is made more fun because you can’t see your competitors much of the time so you can look for them when you emerge from the tunnel and see who’s winning!
Which of the two new water rides are you most excited to try? I think I’m going to love Breakers Edge but I’ll be trying them both!
Get Your Tickets or Hersheypark Season Pass
You can save time at the Park by purchasing your tickets online. And if you’re going to visit Hersheypark more than a couple of times, definitely consider a Season Pass. There are so many great perks, like free parking, 15% off your food and drink purchases in the Park, and more. We’ve had them for a few years and love the benefits, plus it’s great to be able to just go for a few hours whenever we want to.

We love Hershey Park; we love the roller coasters!

That is a hard choice. We love the boardwalk when it is really hot because the water helps keep us cooled down but all in all, I would have to say that we love the regular part of the park the most just because there is a ton of stuff to do. We love all the coasters and games and food. You are correct though, the 2 day pass is the best because you can drive in and do the waterpark one day, leave, eat, check into a hotel and clean up and then come back and do rides in the evening and the next day. My daughter wants to go in July for her birthday.
Jeremy McLaughlin says
We love the water park. We usually do the waterpark in the morning and then all the rides in the afternoon. Having a 2 day pass would be great so we could do the water park one day and all the rides the next day.

Trisha McKee says
I love Hershey park because I grew up going to Hersheypark. My mom and aunts would take all of us cousins and it was always so much fun. So many memories at that park. I remember being little, at the end of the day, sunkissed and exhausted and happy and we would stop at one of the shops for fudge on the way out.
