I was provided with a complimentary Twister Dance Rave game to facilitate this review. The opinions in this post are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
Did you play Twister back in the day? I always thought Twister was such a fun game! Now there’s a new modern twist on it, pun intended, with a huge dash of music throw in: Twister Dance Rave! It sort of reminds me of Simon (remember that game?) for your feet. My kids and I had a lot of fun getting down with the tunes and trying to keep up with what color our feet should be on.
This is what you get in the box: The unit that plays the music and lights up, two sets of 4 colored circles, some directions, and a cord so you can plug in your own mp3 player and dance to your favorite tunes. The unit does come loaded with a few songs and I really like that you’ve got something to get you started so you can play it right out of the box.
It’s party time! The TWISTER DANCE RAVE game brings the fun with today’s hottest music, great speakers and LED lights that shine to create your very own dance floor. Girls will love learning dances and showing off their moves to songs from popular artists, or they can plug their own mp3 players into the console, turning virtually any song into a dance song! The party never ends as players continue to learn new dances by following the lights and moving to the beat on the iconic TWISTER spots in head-to-head or freestyle play. (Requires 4 AA batteries – demo batteries included). Ages 8+, 1-2 players.

To play you line up your colored circles on the floor in front of the light/music unit and turn it on. Then as the light on the left lights a certain color, you move your left foot to that color, and so on and so on. There are different levels of difficulty which made it easy for the kids to get started. My 8 year-old daughter definitely did a little better than my 4 year-old son but he was able to hang in there and play a bit too. I personally like that it’s just a fun, active game and there’s no winner. And we really like that you can listen to your own music! That makes it so fun. If I had one suggestion for improvement it might be to make those colored circles a little heavier. They slip around a little but maybe if you were on a hard surface where they’d sort of stick a bit that wouldn’t be an issue. Might just be a carpet thing and even still, they didn’t move a whole lot.
Twister Dance Rave is available on Amazon (retail price $34.99 but last time I looked it was on sale!) and would be a really fun gift for your little dance stars! Be sure to follow Hasbro Game Night on Facebook and on Twitter to be the first to hear about any new fun games and promotions!
