The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec is being released this week on August 13! I had the opportunity to review the film and we loved it! If you’re a fan of Indiana Jones or other action/adventures like that you’re going to love this one, too. And personally I really like that it stars a woman who plays such a strong character, not afraid to go forth and solve any mystery or take on any trouble.
The cinematography is so cool in this movie! It’s just awesome to watch even without the plot! Of course the plot is what makes it great but I absolutely loved all the scenery and the way it was filmed just really lent itself so well to an action movie.
The year is 1912. This is the story of an intrepid young reporter Adèle Blanc-Sec and her quest for the power of life over death. Her journey would take her to distant lands to face many dangers beneath the sands. She will go to any lengths to achieve her aims, including sailing to Egypt to tackle mummies of all shapes and sizes. Meanwhile in Paris, a 136 million-year old pterodactyl egg on display in the natural history museum has mysteriously hatched, and the creature subjects the city to a reign of terror from the skies. But nothing fazes Adele Blanc-Sec, whose adventures include many more extraordinary surprises…
There’s a good bit of humor in the film which makes it even more enjoyable and I also really liked the music. I originally thought this would be a great one for my daughter who is just about 8 years-old, but I watched it first just in case and I’m glad I did. I don’t think she’s quite old enough. There are scenes with mummies and the flying pterodactyl that I don’t know if I’d call violent, but I could foresee a little person climbing in bed with me in the middle of the night telling me she’s dreaming about mummies and dinosaurs. If you’re wondering if your kids should check it out, I’d say watch it first but my thought is that somewhere around age 11 or 12 would be safe.
Adventure lovers, this movie is definitely for you! You can order on Amazon and enjoy The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec with your family!
