It's time to shake the dust off of your tired-of-winter home AND your cleaning routine! Here's my 14-day spring cleaning challenge, helping you quickly cross off all the things you never make time for (no, just me?). And, dare I say, making it a little fun in the process!

It’s FINALLY spring! I feel like this winter has gone over forever and I’m ready to shake the dust off not only my house, but also my cleaning routine. I do fine keeping up with the usual stuff: wiping the counters, vacuuming the floors, etc. But the deeper cleaning stuff? I’m not good at making time for that (even though it badly needs to get done!).

So this year I’m breaking apart my to-do list into smaller chunks, a task each day for 14 days, so that it’s manageable and I can actually get ‘er done. And with the help of my new cleaning products from Living Mindful, I’m actually EXCITED to jump in and get started!

14 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge

It's time to shake the dust off of your tired-of-winter home AND your cleaning routine! Here's my 14-day spring cleaning challenge, helping you quickly cross off all the things you never make time for (no, just me?). And, dare I say, making it a little fun in the process!

My very biggest and most effective cleaning tip for any season is to get rid of stuff you don’t want, don’t need, and don’t use. So at the beginning of this challenge, I suggest gathering a couple of big boxes and putting them right in plain sight for the duration. Every time you find something in any room that you don’t need in your home anymore, put it in the box. I have really found that having these boxes out in the open encourages everyone in the family to contribute a few items and within 2 weeks you’ll have a sizable donation for your local charity.

Then you can tackle the other items on my list 14-Day Spring Cleaning Challenge list (and be sure to click that link to print your own copy!), which are pretty self explanatory. Some cleaning tips to make this more pleasant (yes, it’s possible!):

  • Crank the music. Music makes time fly and work FUN!
  • Involve the family. There’s no reason mom has to do it all. Get the whole family to help and you’ll be done with each of these in a snap.
  • Use cleaning products you love. When you actually like your cleaning tools, they are much more enjoyable to use, which is where Mrs. Meyer’s Mindful Living comes in.

While I’m freshening up my home, I’m also freshening up my cleaning routine. Getting back to the donation tip, I think we all tend to have too much stuff, and for me, cleaning products also fall under that umbrella. I’m simplifying with products I love: love how they work, how they smell, how the look, and how they are more eco-friendly than what’s currently in my cupboard.

Living Mindful is dedicated to bringing new, sustainable cleaning products to consumers and they’re starting with beloved Mrs. Meyer’s products. I’ve always been a fan of the fresh, clean scents of Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products, and now they come in a new concentrated formula that makes storage so much easier. Instead of all these big bottles under the sink or in the closet, I have small bottles of concentrate that I can mix up at home.

You know what else that reduces? The number of bottles we’re putting in the recycling bin each week. We’re using less plastic, especially since these reusable spray bottles can be refilled over and over again. Just add the small bottle of concentrated cleaner, fill it with water, give it a little shake, and you’re all set.

The bottles come with stickers to identify what’s in each spray bottle, and if you empty it and want to try a new scent next time, just swap the stickers and you’re good to go. Still, there is no need for yet another plastic bottle when you switch from one scent to the next!

The refreshing scents include Lavender, Basil (one of my favorites!), and Lemon Verbena. If anything is going to get you in the mood for some spring cleaning, it’s these products.

I have been using them for pretty much every cleaning job in my house for about three weeks now, and one of the biggest differences that I have noticed is that while they absolutely do the job, they don’t have that harsh, chemical smell to them that I’ve found with other cleaners. I just feel better about using them around my family for this reason.  And just look at that squeaky clean bathroom!

This is a great opportunity to try these products, and I’m actually going to order more too.
