If there is one thing that can make or break my week, it’s meal planning. I am running to and from soccer fields most nights of the week and if I don’t have a plan, dinnertime is kind of a free-for-all. I don’t feel good about doing that to my kids, and it stresses me all day long to think about what I’m going to throw together for supper.
The reality is that it takes very little time to meal plan if you just make time to do it and GIANT Food Stores have simplified it even further with their new Savory Sunday feature. They just introduced this maybe two months ago and I am LOVING it. Savory Sunday is meal planning simplified, and you can find it both in their Savory magazine and on their website.
#SavorySunday: Here’s How It Works
The idea is that you do your meal planning on Friday, do your shopping Saturday, and on Sunday you prep the ingredients for the week. Spacing the prep out like this makes it totally doable instead of killing your entire Sunday getting ready for the week. And when those busy weeknights roll around you are going to be patting yourself on the back for knowing exactly what you’re serving each night (that’s not a random mix of whatever’s quick).
You have two options to find the meal plan: Grab a copy of Savory magazine at your local GIANT Food Store. Sometimes these are in the entryway, sometimes at customer service, and I’ve seen them in the checkout lanes too. I LOVE this magazine because it seriously has the easiest recipes in it. This is stuff that’s delicious but practical at the same time. Plus there are tons of coupons inside.
The other option is to do it all online. You can even download the current Savory magazine here, or visit Savory Online to find meal plans and lots of other recipes as well. Bookmark it. This is a great resource when you don’t want to scour Pinterest to dig for recipes that are nutritious, family-friendly, but also quick, easy, and budget-friendly.
The #SavorySunday feature provides every little thing you need to plan your weeknight meals from Monday through Thursday. (Friday is generally either leftover or pizza night in my house so this works great for us.)
You’ll get the meal plan, a grocery list, and then a list of to-dos for your Sunday prep.
Finally, each recipe is fully spelled out on subsequent pages, so they really hold your hand every step of the way. Much appreciated when you’re trying a new recipe and meal planning method, right?
We have tried a bunch of these recipes and my family loves them. There hasn’t been one that no one likes, and everyone really appreciates knowing exactly what we’re having for dinner each night. I can’t be the only mom who gets asked at 7am, “What’s for dinner tonight?”
I’m really excited to have Savory Sunday in my arsenal of tricks to manage my week. Life is hectic enough without freaking out about what’s for dinner each night. They’ve made it simple so I can stick with it!
