Stonewall Kitchen Logo

Little known fact about me: Both of my parents are from Maine so I grew up loving lobster, Maine potatoes, and fiddleheads, among other goodies you’ll find up north. One of our favorite brands for years has been Stonewall Kitchen.

Not only do they make the most amazing variety of specialty food products, but they’re headquartered in Maine which makes me love them even more. If you’ve been to Maine you just know, the things that come from there are good things.

Stonewall Kitchen foods have always been some of my favorite because they make cooking for my family using wholesome ingredients so much faster and easier. And hello, all you dessert sauces!

Stonewall Kitchen is known for their unique products (I could have moved into their booth at the Summer Fancy Food Show), gorgeous packaging which you might recognize, and exceptional customer service.

Not only was their booth representative of the ‘at-home’ feel of this brand, but the people there could not have been more welcoming. This is Stonewall Kitchen. It’s who they are.

In 1991 partners Jonathan King and Jim Stott (above, left and middle) started the brand right at home. Their first product was the Orange Cranberry Marmalade, Jonathan’s favorite, and they began selling in local farmer’s markets and festivals. From there they added sauces, condiments, and jams using fresh local produce.

Today Stonewall Kitchen, managed by CEO John Stiker (above, right), is sold in more than 40 countries, has 10 retail Company Stores along the East Coast, and huge web and catalog business. It’s an amazing story, and you can see by those smiles how fun these guys are to talk to about their company. I love putting their faces and stories to a brand I’ve known and trusted for so many years.

After chatting with the executives I had the chance to explore the Stonewall Kitchen booth. SAMPLES you guys. I had a lot. That’s all I’m saying. I want to show you some of my favorites, and what Stonewall Kitchen sent home to me to try with my family. We loved it all.

One of the things that was my favorite in their booth was this selection of simmering sauces. I am on the run every night with soccer and nature club, and on and on. I need fast meals like yesterday.

These sauces make it so easy, and look at the label on this Sloppy Joe Sauce – All Natural. See that? So I can feel good about feeding it to my kids, even when I feel like I’m throwing together something quick.

I browned some turkey, poured in the Sloppy Joe Sauce and simmered. The kids loved this and let me tell you, you can absolutely taste the difference between this sauce and the canned grocery store variety. It’s SO good.

Weekend breakfasts are da bomb around here because my husband cooks! We love the Stonewall Kitchen Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix. It’s so good, perfect for those blueberry pancakes that get cooked up here every Saturday morning, made even better with a topping of Wild Maine Blueberry Jam.

This has to be near the top of my list of favorite Stonewall Kitchen products. Maine blueberries are soooo good!

Waffles made with this mix are light, fluffy, and just melt-in-your-mouth amazing.

I have a major sweet tooth. It’s a problem, but I’m coping over here. These dessert sauces help. Spiced Rum Butterscotch Sauce. WHAT? This is a thing, friends!

What would you even put that on? Warm it up over an apple dumpling. Vanilla ice cream. Or do what I do and just eat it off the spoon. No judgement from me.

I was sent the Seat Salt Caramel Sauce which I love, love, love. I did put the spoon down long enough to bake with it and made these killer Sea Salt Caramel Blondies.

The batter uses only a few basic ingredients you probably already have on hand, and then just dollop the Seat Salt Caramel on top and swirl. Bake and eat, baby. My kids had these gone on day one!

This Salted Caramel Blondies Recipe is so easy to make you won't believe it, & amazing with Stonewall Kitchen's Salted Caramel Sauce. The best easy dessert!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 22 minutes
Total Time 32 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (I used light)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • About 1/4 cup Stonewall Kitchen Salted Caramel Sauce (I didn't really measure, just used several spoonfuls - see pic)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spray an 8x8" baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

Place butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl and mix until light and fluffy, a couple of minutes. One at a time, add the egg, vanilla, salt, and flour, mixing after each ingredient is added until well combined.

Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and use a spatula to smooth the top and spread evenly to the edges.

Drop spoonfuls of the Salted Caramel Sauce on top of the batter. You can try to do three rows of 3 or 4 'hunks' of sauce. Make sure you get some in the corners!

Use a knife to swirl the sauce into the batter. Once you bake these you really can't see any pretty pattern you make, but you want to be sure to get a bit of salted caramel in every piece.

Bake 22-25 minutes until the edges brown just a bit. Mine firmed up more after cooling.

They'll cut more neatly after cooled, but they taste better warm and with vanilla ice cream. Just sayin'.

After you plate this up with some vanilla ice cream, drizzle a little more Sea Salt Caramel on top. Because live a little. You’re welcome. 😉

Another favorite food of mine is Chicken Stew. My Mom makes the world’s best from scratch, and while I love her recipe, soccer mom over here doesn’t have time for that. So I was anxious to see if this New England Chicken Stew Mix was going to be a good alternative for us.

And it’s a winner! I’ve made it twice now and it’s so easy. You just have to add a diced onion and chicken. That’s pretty much it, and I did add the dumplings on top because in this family it’s not chicken stew without dumplings.
