Rockboard Original Scooter (That I Can Ride, Too!)

I have received a Rockboard Scooter to facilitate this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My experience may differ from your own. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

My kids ride their scooters all the time & now we've discovered a cool new way to ride that the entire family can hop on - the Rockboard Original Scooter!

My kids ride their scooters all the time and I usually walk along side of them. But now, I can ride too! We had the chance to check out the Rockboard Original Scooter, which I agreed to review for my kids. But once my husband and I got a turn we kinda just took over. 😉

This is the Rockboard Original Scooter, designed for kids ages 8 and up, and adults up to 200lbs. too. So Mom and Dad, you can ride right along side the kids or take turns on these fun wheels!

What makes the Rockboard unique is that it has two modes of operation. You’ll notice that it only has 2 wheels total so there’s a bit of a learning curve here for kids because they do need to balance it while riding. The first mode is the Rock Mode, and there’s no need to push off to keep moving forward. Rock the board back and forth to propel ahead without taking your feet off the board.

Then, in one quick movement, you can transform the scooter into a flat board where you can push off the ground to keep moving. This was a good starting point to get comfortable with the feel of the Rockboard and balancing it.

This video is a great demo of how it works.

So we took it out and tried both methods to ride. My husband and I had fun with both of them! I’ll be honest, this was really different for my kids so they are still mastering it. My son is only 6 and I think the Rockboard is just a little too heavy and different for him to handle. No surprise there since it’s recommended for ages 8+. My daughter is 10 and she can ride it pretty well now, but it did take some practice.

My husband, however, caught on right away. Here he’s riding with the Rock Mode, just rocking his feet back and forth from front to back to propel forward.

He was scooting along pretty fast here! Learning to ride in a parking lot is a good idea so you have lots of space to practice.

In one quick step you can flatten the board to ride like a more traditional scooter. This was more my speed! Push off with one foot and zoooom away!

How cute is this? Our kids got such a kick out of us riding scooters with them. This is a really fun gift idea for the holidays, something the entire family can use!
