Rewined Candles: Repurposed Wine Bottles, Amazing Aromas

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

Two things that really make me feel like an adult are candles and wine.  I realize that might sound ridiculous, but I’m a 30-something mom and fire and alcohol are kind of a no-go with the kids bouncing around here.  When they go to bed, however, it’s Mommy time and lighting a candle and pouring myself a glass of wine is a real treat.  Lighting a Rewined candle that is made from a bottle of wine and smells like a favorite wine is doubly delicious.

Rewined candles are handcrafted from a repurposed wine bottle.  The recycler in me just loves that, and it definitely makes for a very cool, very unique candle.  Rewined is located in South Carolina (made in the USA, yay!) and they actually have some local restaurants they partner with to collect their empty wine bottles and turn them into beautiful candles.  Genius!

Rewined candles are so attractive.  They’re presentation is kind of simple, not overdone, yet natural and rustic looking.  It matches nearly any home decor and is understated yet totally classy.  What’s more, the candles smell amazing.  Each candle is hand poured and made from soy wax combined with fragrances that come together to just, well, they rock.  Scents are inspired by favorite varieties of wine:

  • Cabernet: Black Cherry, Currant, Smoke, Burnt Toast
  • Champagne: White Grape, Honey, Fresh Baked Bread, Light Citrus
  • Chardonnay: Vanilla, Butter, Oak and Light Floral Notes
  • Merlot: Ripe Pomegranate, Plum, Vanilla, and Violet
  • Pinot Grigio: Sandlewood, Wet Stone, and Light Citrus
  • Pinot Noir: Fig, Cranberry, Leather, and Earth (*this one is their best seller!)
  • Riesling: Bright Citrus, Tropical Fruit, and Asian Pear
  • Sauvignon Blanc: Fresh Mown Grass, Basil, Mint and Grapefruit
  • Spiked Cider: Fresh Apple, Clove, Cinnamon, and a shot of Buttered Rum (*limited time for fall!)

Don’t they sound awesome?  Gosh, there are a bunch I’d love to have.  The Merlot sounds awesome to me and I really think my husband would love the Sauvignon Blanc.  I was able to review the Spiked Cider candle which is simply amazing.  Fall is here in force in Pennsylvania and the cooler weather and shorter days make you want to cozy up inside.  The scent of this candle just says FALL.  It’s such a warm smell, a little bit spicy.  Not in a hot-spicy way, but like a warm cinnamon, something’s-baking kind of way. It’s amazing and I just love the scent it gives off.  It’s not overly strong but not so subtle that you can’t smell it.  I have it burning in my kitchen and the whole kitchen smells delish, but you can’t really smell it in the next room.  I like that because some candles that fill your whole house with a smell just smell kind of fake.  There’s nothing fake about this Spiked Cider candle.

These Rewined candle wine bottles are hand cut and I was wondering if it was going to be a sharp edge but it’s totally not.  It’s rough and hard, it is cut glass after all, but I don’t think you could cut yourself on it at all.  My kids have played with it (they’re my favorite little sniffers!) and didn’t even notice the edge.

I think my Rewined candle might last forever, too.  Okay, maybe not forever.  But I have been burning it a lot and it’s a pretty big candle.  It’s deep inside that wine bottle and I know I’ll get hours and hours out scent out of it.  That makes it worth every penny of the $28 price tag.

These candles would be awesome gifts this holiday season.  Friends, teachers, colleagues, your boss…who wouldn’t like one of these?  It’s a practical gift yet totally unique and the fact that Rewined candles sends a message of repurposing and recycling is icing on the cake.  And did I mention that they smell amazing?

Be sure to follow Rewined Candles on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to hear about their latest products and promotions.  And pin my review so you remember these fabulous candles when you’re doing your holiday shopping!  I’ll be grabbing a couple for my friends and family for sure.

I was provided with a complimentary Rewined Candle to facilitate this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Woah – those look awesome! I love how they recycled old wine bottles and the scents are based off of the flavors of wine. Great pictures too!
