Tis the season for fleas and ticks.  We took the kids and our dog Sam out for a little hike at a lake near us last weekend and both of the kids had ticks on them when we came home. Yuk.  I don’t like that not only because EW, but also because of the disease that ticks can carry.  Fortunately for your dog there is PetArmor Plus IGR made by Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, Inc. to keep them protected when they need it most.

Our dog Sam loves to be outside and I love not having to worry about him coming in with fleas or ticks on him.  Ironically I just switched his vet to a new office because the prices at our old vet were astronomical.  Sadly I found that the prices on his flea and tick medicine are still pretty high. So it’s awesome that PetArmor Plus IGR is not only less expensive than the other brands, but you can actually buy it at Walmart both online and in their stores. I love the convenience of this!

It’s sorta gross to think about how many fleas and ticks we’re exposed to. Did you know that flea eggs can live outside in the grass or cracks in the sidewalk, and if you bring them inside they can live in the carpet, floor cracks, and bedding?  Gag!  It’s really an important part of being responsible with your pet to make sure you protect them from these nasty critters, and protect the humans in your house too.  You probably know that fleas, in addition to being itchy and difficult to get rid of, can transmit tapeworm, and ticks can transmit Lyme disease.  If you want to learn more about ticks and the risks they pose this is a great website.

Before you start using PetArmor it’s really important to make sure you’ve got the right product. If you look at that picture of the box above that says for dogs and puppies 6-22lbs, and then look at my little Sam dog, you’ll know I have the right box. There are different doses for different sized dogs so be sure to check that.  And speaking of doses, don’t split them between dogs and give them only every 30 days. I mark my calendar through the year so I know exactly when I’m due to give another dose.

It was tricky for me to get a good picture of the opening on these tubes but I wanted to show you that the hole is really small, so it comes out in a narrow line and not a goopy mess.  That makes it much easier to apply and you can sort of use the sides of the applicator to split apart the hair on your dogs back to get the PetArmor right on his skin.

PetArmor Plus IGR contains fipronil, the No. 1 veterinarian-recommended active ingredient and it kills adult fleas, ticks, flea eggs and chewing lice. And it’s costs less and is more conveniently available at Walmart.  Don’t leave your pet (and your family) unprotected this spring and summer.  Who wants to deal with nasty fleas and ticks? Not me!

Learn more about protecting your dog from fleas and ticks on the PetArmor website.  And be sure to follow on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to know about their latest products and promotions. Look for PetArmor Plus IGR for dogs in your local Walmart!
