My family has visited the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania several times and we always go back for more. There’s just SO much to do, so many amazing resorts, outdoor adventure, and yummy places to eat. Each trip we’ve taken is unique and holds special memories for us.
This past weekend we were invited to stay for a couple of days as guests of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau and we had SO much fun! Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours for a guided UTV ride. This was seriously one of the most cool things we’ve ever done while traveling. Check out all of my pics below!
Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours
If you’re intimidated by the idea of driving a UTV, don’t be! This is 100% worth stepping out of your comfort zone. Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours offers guided UTV rides on both double and single vehicles.
My husband and I each took one of the kids in a double UTV. (This is actually the after picture where we’re a little sweaty and dirty and glad to have conquered the trail!)
UTVs operate pretty much exactly like an automatic transmission car, so if you’ve got a license (required!), you can easily drive one. Our guide gave us instructions before we pulled out and made sure each driver was comfortable operating their vehicle. Everyone also gets a helmet to wear, and those are provided.
With one guide leading the way, and one guide at the end of the group, we were very safe and secure the entire time. You’re not just set loose in the woods to go explore, and two people who know what they’re doing are always available to help.
My daughter and I were in the first UTV, right behind the tour guide, so I felt like I had to buck up and set the example for the rest of the group! This was probably all in my head, but there was a LOT of talking to myself going on in that UTV. ha!
Some of the hills feel pretty steep, and it had been rainy so we drove through a bunch of mud. At times I was a bit nervous, but this was SO FUN! Those UTVs are really safe, and ours never slipped or anything. I felt totally in control the whole time.
The ride through the woods is gorgeous, so be sure to bring your camera. We stopped here and there just to keep the whole group together, so there were chances to take plenty of pics. We traveled over creeks, along streams, through the woods, and up and down the mountains. Seriously beautiful!
Be sure to dress the part: You’re apt to get dirty or muddy depending on the condition of the trail. I actually thought we’d get a little muddier but we came out relatively clean despite hitting a bunch of puddles. Wear old sneakers and clothes you don’t mind getting a little roughed up.
We had the best time doing this together! It’s really fun to ride with one of the kids, too. While I’m freaking out that a hill is too high for me to drive up, my daughter is telling me, “You got this, Mom! Gas it!” (Thankfully we have a few years before she can drive!) The kids had a blast and my husband and I did, too.
We HIGHLY recommend Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours. Their staff is courteous, professional, and so helpful in making sure you’re comfortable out there.
This is going to be one of those, ‘remember that time we rode the UTVs through the woods’ memories. Those experiences that stick are my favorite when we’re traveling.
