PeggyBank: Because Your Family Memories Are Priceless

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

Most of us have some sort of old, outdated media lying around or shoved in a box that’s sitting on top of a closet shelf or in the corner of a basement.  I have old photos and film in all kinds of places.  When my Dad passed away about 5 years ago we discovered a bunch of his old slides and film reels that he, like me, had stored in a box in a basement.  We broke out his old slide projector and looked at the images up on my living room wall.  A little hard to share them with the rest of the family and preserve them for my own kids to enjoy down the road in this format.  That’s when I discovered PeggyBank and set about turning these pieces of my history into a digital format that would last forever.

PeggyBank, located in Nebraska, turns outdated media into digital format, mpegs and jpegs (now do you get where their name came from?!) so it lasts forever.  They can convert film reels, VHS and Beta tapes, DVDs, printed photos, scrapbooks, negatives, slides, vinyl records, audio cassette tapes and more to digital jpeg or mpeg formats.  Then it’s so easy to share your memories with anyone and you’ve got them preserved forever, safe from anything that might damage your memories.

The thing I love about PeggyBank is how incredibly easy they make the whole process.  The first thing you do is go on their site and decide how you want to ship your media to them.  Prices range from whatever you’d pay at the post office to mail your own box, to $29.99 for a PeggyBox.  This is what I used when I ordered.  They send you a crush proof box with all the materials you need to safely and properly pack up your media and the price includes FedEx shipping back to them.  So I think this is actually the best deal for the safest way to get your order to them.  After you make that selection you need to provide your name and shipping information at they also give you the option of saving your digital media in a few different ways.

Included with all orders is an upload of your media to your own PeggyVault.  That’s like online storage on their site and you can easily view and share your pictures and movies.  For an extra fee you can have your media saved on a flash drive,  your hard drive, or on a DVD.  I chose to have mine saved to a flash drive.  I wanted those photos and movies somewhere other than just in my PeggyVault and that option is only $14.99.

Once they get your box they’ll inventory it all for you and send you an email with what they received and an invoice.  You need to pay the invoice before they’ll convert your media.  You can find a price list here so you know ahead of time what to expect.  Once your media has been converted you’ll be notified that you can view it all in your PeggyVault and all of your originals will be mailed back to you.

The whole process is very easy and if you have any questions or want an update on the status of your order their customer service is fantastic. Ask away!  They answered all of my questions and I felt totally comfortable with my Dad’s slides (there are some of them above!) and film being safe.

It was so cool to be able to email some pictures of my Dad from his army days to family and I burned discs for my Mom, my sister and our kids, and all of our cousins.  That picture on top above is of Dad in Germany when he was in the service and the one on the bottom is a picture he took of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Those pictures and films of our family are priceless and preserving them so they’re never lost is one of the best gifts I’ve ever given myself.

If you have old VHS tapes of family vacations or holidays sitting around, or old slides like my Dad had, use PeggyBank to get them converted to a digital format that you can easily share and enjoy, and they won’t ever be lost in an old shoebox in the basement again.  It would make a really special gift for the holidays and PeggyBank has even given me a 20% off code to share with you: PANDDPB20.  No expiration date!

Be sure to follow PeggyBank on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to hear about their latest news!  PeggyBank is generously offering two of my readers $50 gift cards!  This giveaway is open to US residents ages 18+ only and ends on November 20.  You can enter to win [HERE].  Good luck!

I was provided with complimentary PeggyBank services in exchange for this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

I never knew something like this existed! I always thought that old fashioned tapes just had to be thrown away, but that’s so cool that Peggybank can turn them into digital versions so you can keep your family memories. I’m definitely entering to win one of these gift cards! Thanks!

I would love to do this!  We have so many old photos and movies at my parents house that would be great to preserve.
