Peanut Butter Prices Are On The Rise! Look for Sales Now and Stock Up!

I’ve read this twice recently and thought I’d share it with you.  Lifehacker, one of my favorite sites for great tidbits of info on just about everything, posted this article today.  Prices for peanut butter are expected to rise by about 40% starting in November 2011, just a couple weeks from now.  The hot, dry  summer this year didn’t help peanut crops in southern states and now we’ll see this reflected in prices at the grocery store. I don’t know about you, but we go through peanut butter like crazy in our house.
If you see a good deal on peanut butter in the next couple of weeks, think about grabbing it before the prices jump significantly.  Here is a printable coupon for $.60 off 2 Skippy Peanut Butters.  Many stores will double that to $1 off two, saving you $.50 on each jar.  Print it now and keep your eyes peeled for a good price.
This past weekend’s newspaper (10/9 SmartSource) included a coupon for $.75 off one Smart Balance Peanut Butter.  If you shop at Giant of PA, it’s on sale for $2.49 and would only be $1.49 after the doubled coupon.  Good deal!  It’s also part of a buy-6-earn-200-points promo.  You can find all the Giant deals for this week here.
Wanted to give you all the heads-up!  I’ll keep an eye out for more coupons or good deals on peanut butter.  Let me know if you see any, too!
