If you know me, you know I’m a shoe person. I was so excited to have the opportunity to review a brand that was new to me, Okabashi. If you haven’t heard of them they’re definitely worth getting to know, so read on and let me tell you some of the awesome things I learned about this green company.
Okabashi shoes are made in the U.S.A. Unfortunately, that’s rare. And I think it’s pretty fantastic that Okabashi is committed to producing their product here in the States and keeping their jobs here, too. Making and shipping shoes from their plant in Burford, Georgia drastically reduces the fuel used to transport shoes from the factory to the consumer. Keep reading to see what else they do for our planet…
Okasbashi shoes are made out of 25% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable. This is what makes these shoes really stand out. You can recycle them! And if you can’t find a place near you to recycle them once they’ve worn out, you can send them back to Okabashi to be recycled and in exchange they’ll give you a discount off of your next order. How cool is that? I love that. Of all the shoes I’ve owned I don’t think I’ve ever had a pair that’s recyclable.
They’re cool looking. And who doesn’t love cool shoes? I really do love some of the colors and styles from Okabashi. I was able to review this pair of Maui flip-flops in Jade. They are perfect for summer, or really any time you want to just slip on a pair of comfy, quick shoes and hit the road. Or let the dog out, as the case may be. They’ve got other great styles, too. The site is so easy to navigate: shop by Women or Men’s shoes, or by style.
Okabashis are the only brand of shoes endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association. Cute sandals that are supportive? Win-win. I am a big, HUGE advocate of supportive shoes. Your back is a terrible thing to break. And why would you when there are fun, affordable shoes like Okabashi? The ACA has endorsed these shoes for:
- Foot support and massaging comfort
- Durability and flexibility
- Water and slip resistance on wet and dry surfaces
- Use of Micro-Check, an antimicrobial agent, which keeps shoes dry and repels stain and other deterioration
- Affordability
Okabashis are affordable. The Maui’s that I got to review are available right now for $14.99. That’s it! What a great price for shoes that are cute, supportive, durable, comfortable, and recyclable!
So what did I think? Well, I love them. I wear these shoes all the time. They’re perfect for running out to get my daughter off the school bus, hitting the beach in the summertime, getting groceries, anything I do! And they’re comfy. When I first got them the weather was finally getting warmer here in Pennsylvania so it had been a while since I had worn flip-flops. The thong in between the toes felt a little stiff to me at first, but after I wore them for a couple of hours I think I both broke in the shoe and my winter feet and I didn’t notice it at all after that.
You can shop around on Okabashi and check out all of their awesome styles. They have a sale section where you’ll find some great discounts, and orders of $40 or more ship for free. Stay in touch with Okabashi on Facebook and Twitter to find out about the latest promotions and newest styles. For their comfort, style, and the fact that this is a truly green company they get five stars from me!
I was provided with a pair of Okabashi sandals to facilitate this review. The opinions in this post are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
