I suffer with seasonal allergies and get frequent headaches because of it. Actually I get headaches all year round so I don’t know if that’s an allergy issue or what, but it stinks whatever it is. While popping a couple of pain pills will usually do the trick for me, I hate taking medication so often. Can’t be good for you, right? So I was pretty excited to give this a shot: Maui Excellent Volcano Oil is a line of all-natural products that are used to treat headaches, aches and pains, congestion and more.
I’ll admit upfront I was pretty skeptical about this. How can you make a headache go away without medicine? Didn’t seem likely to me but (unfortunately) I’ve had lots of opportunity to test this stuff out and I can honestly say it works! It’s pretty amazing. So, the Volcano Oil line includes a few different products. There is an oil, gel, massage oil, and bath salts. I got to try the oil and the gel and the oil is what I am loving for my headache problems.
The Volcano Oil comes in a little .33oz. bottle ($12.99 retail) and has a roller tip so you can easily apply it and a little goes a long way. When you’re suffering with congestion or a headache, rub a little onto the base of your neck in the back, and some on each temple. You’ll immediately feel the tingling! There are both analgesic oils and mint oils that work together to provide relief. This is what’s in this little bottle of magic: Essential Oil Blend of Eucalyptus, Camphor, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Menthol, Spearmint, Tea Tree, Oils of Apricot, Sweet Almond, Safflower, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Canola, Macadamia Nut, Kukui Nut and Vitamins A & E. So there are no perfumes or dyes, just natural essential oils. Now back to that tingling… The first time I tried this I said to my husband, “It’s like chewing gum with your neck!” I know, I’m nuts, but seriously that’s what it feels like. It’s a very minty, refreshing feeling. It makes you want to take slow, deep breaths (maybe that’s part of the secret?!) to inhale the scent. Now it is pretty strong so don’t over apply it. I never had that problem but I could see it getting to be a little overpowering if you went nuts with it. The scent gives you some mental clarity too. Oh…much needed for this Mom. Now when I have a headache I reach for the Volcano Oil instead of the Motrin. In all the times that I used it I’d say 100% of the time my headache diminished. It didn’t always go completely away, but I would estimate that about 70% of the time it did. That’s a lot of pills I didn’t pop. Big thumbs up for that!
The other product I tried was the Volcano Oil Gel ($12.99 retail). This one is more for larger areas of pain, like sore muscles, or to rub into your chest to treat congestion. What’s in this product? Deionized Water, Organic Aloe Vera, Pure Essential Oils of Eucalyptus, Camphor, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Menthol, Spearmint, and Vitamin E. Again, all natural products with no additives or chemicals. The gel works in much the same way the oil works: just rub it into the areas where you need some relief and the minty heat provides relief. Came in handy after lugging a bunch of stuff up from the basement to prepare for a yard sale!
What I love most about these products, in addition to the fact that they actually work, is that they’re all-natural. It’s so nice to be able to get some relief from pain or congestion without reaching into the medicine cabinet. If you suffer with allergies and congestion, or muscle aches and pains, or you’re like me and have frequent headaches I definitely recommend trying this. It really does work!
