Mary Kay ClearProof

I’ve got a birthday coming up in January and am going to be 37 years old. In my mind I’m still in my 20s but I can definitely tell I’m aging. I’ve been surprised as I’ve gotten older that I still get the occasional blemish. My skin isn’t what I’d call terribly acne prone but as a younger girl (wow, that makes me sound old) I did battle breakouts at times. I sort of had it in my head that that was something you aged out of. As you grew older, you stopped having teenager skin.  And while I wouldn’t call my skin teenager skin, it is disappointing that even as I’m pushing 40 I still find myself in the drug store looking at the same skin care products I shopped for 20 years ago.  I recently starting using the Mary Kay Clear Proof Acne System and I really love it. This is skin care for ME, for an adult who still needs to work to keep her skin clear. And it really works.

About the Clear Proof Acne System

There are 4 products included in this set which I’ll tell you about below. The general idea here is that the key to a clear complexion is using a skin care regimen that uses combination salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide as its acne fighting ingredients.  The Salicylic acid exfoliates dead skin while benzoyl peroxide reduces bacteria. Together, these ingredients visibly reduce the number of acne blemishes, their severity, and prevent new pimples from forming.

The 4 Clear Proof Products

Clarifying Cleansing Gel: The Clarifying Cleansing Gel gives the skin a deep clean, removing dirt, excess oil and impurities. The salicylic acid formula helps to reduce the shine and unclog pores to help achieve clearer skin. This is a great face wash, gentle and it leaves your skin feeling deep cleaned.

Blemish Control Toner: The Blemish Control Toner removes dead skin cells to help keep pores from clogging and prevent new pimples from forming. The salicylic acid-based formula cleanses skin completely to help tighten pores and appear less noticeable to give you healthy, clearer skin.  This stuff really works great, and you might want to go a little easy with it to start because it can be tingly on sensitive skin but I’ve definitely noticed tighter pores after regular use for a couple of weeks.

Acne Treatment Gel: The Acne Treatment Gel penetrates and clears pores to target bacteria and visible reduce a pimples redness. The benzoyl peroxide product absorbs bacteria quickly to help reduce the number of pimples, and allows the skin to heal and prevent future breakouts.  I use this as more of a spot treatment, just in areas that I feel blemishes might be developing. The nice thing about it is that it isn’t a thick, sticky cream. It’s a lightweight gel that easily absorbs into your skin. I use it after the toner and before I moisturize and put on my make-up.

Oil-Free Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin: The Oil Free Moisturizer is a fast- absorbing, lightweight, non-pore-clogging formula that helps provide your skin the balanced hydration it needs. The formula helps control shine and excess oil to leave skin feeling nourished and healthier. I love this product! This moisturizer is really…thin, for lack of a better word. It’s not goopy and thick or greasy at ALL. It’s very lightweight and absorbs quickly into your skin and is really good under make-up. Even without being thick, it still moisturizes really well.

The Clear Proof System from Mary Kay is available for $45 and individual products range from $10 to $17.

My Thoughts on the Mary Kay Clear Proof Acne System

I really like this skin care system. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now and my intent was to use it in the morning to start and then build up to twice a day but my skin is actually really clear with just once-a-day use and I don’t want to mess with it because the ingredients can be drying if overused. So I suggest starting slow and to see what works best for you.  Is my skin perfectly perfect? Mmm, not quite. But it’s pretty darn close.  I definitely do not have any major breakouts and haven’t since I starting using this. My skin looks the best it’s looked in a long time. I love the confidence that that gives me, too! I am a work-at-home-mom so making up my face isn’t high on my list of priorities. It’s awesome to feel comfortable in your own skin without hiding behind a bunch of foundation.

If you suffer with breakouts, even just occasionally like I did, this skin care system is definitely worth trying. I am going to continue to use it myself. It works better than anything I’ve tried before, and that includes everything from the teenager stuff in the drugstores to the pricier department store lines. And this is way more affordable than they are!

I have tried the Mary Kay Timewise set before and loved it. I think i would like the Oil free moisturizer from this set the most. It’s important not to over dry your skin when dealing with acne issues.

As a teenager I never had an acne problem but now that I am an adult I tend to have breakouts. I have tried over the counter stuff but I was never happy with the products. I am not a makeup wearer but my sister is and she swears by Mary Kay. Since she has sensitive skin and she likes their product I can only imagine I would be happy with this set.
