Lego KidsFest: Creative Fun for the Whole Family In Pittsburgh This Weekend Only! (12/1 – 12/2)

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

This weekend is the last weekend of the 2012 Lego KidsFest tour and lucky for me they’ve stopped relatively close to home in Pittsburgh, PA!  If you’re local or within driving distance you have to bring your kids to check out this amazing event.  The event is at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from 11/30 – 12/2, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Obviously Friday has come and gone and both sessions for Saturday are already sold out.  Your last chance to come enjoy this event is on Sunday December 2 during one of the two available sessions: 9am – 1:30pm and from 3pm – 7:30pm.  These two sessions could potentially sell out, too, so go grab your tickets online now so you don’t miss out!

I’ve never seen anything like Lego KidsFest in my life.  It’s just *WOW*.  There are tons of life-size Lego creations like Lightning McQueen, Indiana Jones, Batman, Darth Vader and more.  My son got a kick out of being able to stick his head out of a shark’s mouth and I thought this cute surfer dude was pretty sweet.     😉

Definitely the coolest thing about Lego KidsFest is how interactive it is.  There are TONS of areas for kids (and adults!) to play and get creative.  We built cars and raced them down a track, we sat in the middle of a giant pile of Lego bricks on the floor and built houses (and my son may or may not have made a snow/Lego angel), and we spun Ninjagos like nobody’s business.

The event floor is divided up into different areas where you can choose to get creative on your own, or participate in a larger group activity.  In one area my daughter built a house and my husband built a pool that were then added to  whole community that a bunch of people were contributing to.  There are also areas to buy Lego sets, shirts and other souvenirs.  And there are TONS of photo ops!  So be sure to take your camera.

Even very young kids can enjoy the event since they’ve got Duplo blocks to play with, too.  It’s definitely an event for the whole family.  There’s even an adult section where the grown ups get to show off their mad Lego skillz!

My family had a blast and if you’re local to Pittsburgh, get to this event this weekend.  It’s SO fun and definitely one of those memory-making times spent with your kids.  Follow Lego KidsFest on Facebook and Twitter to get all the inside scoop, too!

Be sure to check back with me over the next couple of days while I continue to explore the awesome city of Pittsburgh!

Not local to Pittsburgh?  Look for the 2013 Lego KidsFest schedule to see if the event will be coming to a city near you!
