I participated in the Mom Blog Tour at the Summer Fancy Food Show on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers and received Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates products to facilitate my review.
I am a chocoholic and can’t tell you how excited I was to meet Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates at the Summer Fancy Food Show this summer. The name Kohler to me makes me think of their bath and kitchen fixtures (yes, same company!) and I was also interested to learn that Kohler owns The American Club Resort in Scotland.
At the show I had the pleasure of meeting Kohler’s Head Chocolatier, Anette Righi DeFendi. This lady is SO cool to talk to and let me tell you, she knows her chocolate. Anette told me that she fell in love with chocolate, and particularly with making caramel. New product development is part of her job description and she works directly with Mr. Kohler who approves each product before it’s launched.
These Terrapins are the Kohler signature product. They are just amazing. I’m drooling looking at this picture. Mr. Kohler thought the world deserved a better version of the turtle so his Five-Star staff at The American Club created the Terrapin which was their first product to launch. Thank you to Mr. Kohler for this deliciousness right here.
This was another favorite product of mine that I sampled at the show: Toffee Bark. It comes in a few different varieties and is the perfect combination of sweet and salty and chewy.
Anette told me that she loves to create shell pieces like this one, a brand new chocolate called Divine Chunks. Believe it or not, this purple gem is a milk chocolate shell filled with crunchy peanut butter. I am a peanut butter fanatic and this was perfection in one bite to me.
By popular demand this holiday season Kohler is bringing back their Holiday Caramels. If you are looking for a stunning gift, look no farther. This 32-piece limited-edition chocolate covered caramel collection retails for $59.99 and is a gorgeous gift for someone special, or for a special occasion.
The packaging is as special as the chocolate with a big red box and a pretty chocolate colored bow.
Inside are a variety of caramels, each made with Kohler caramel covered in a creamy chocolate shell. There are four flavors, each inspired by the nostalgic winter traditions, tastes and smells of Wisconsin where Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates are made. How neat is that?!
These are almost too pretty to eat. Almost, but not quite. 😉 My favorite flavor was the Golden Caramel. Here’s a description of each:
- Silver: Sea Salt Caramel is a dark smoky caramel infused with a light taste of sea salt
- Gold: Traditional and savory Golden Caramel with a hint of brown sugar
- Red: Ginger Snap Caramel in a dark chocolate shell filled full of soft notes of molasses to resemble a gingerbread cookie
- Green: Almond Green Caramel infused with a striking almond flavor
And the caramel inside is just SO good. It’s not runny and messy the way some caramels can be, but it’s not thick and chewy either. It’s just perfect, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. These aren’t candies you leave out for the kids to devour in one sitting! This is the kind of treat you gift to your boss, or serve at a holiday party. Yum! You can find this limited Holiday Caramel collection from October 22 through the holidays both on the Kohler website, and in select specialty stores.
Head over to the Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates website to drool over all of their delicious creations, and find more yumminess in their Facebook and Twitter feeds.
