My Kids’ Teachers Are Our Angels #ShareJaneLove

Share Jane Love teachers

A few months ago I participated the Be the Good pay-it-forward campaign and now Very Jane is at it again with the feel goods and the #ShareJaneLove campaign. They’re calling on all of us to nominate the angels in our lives not only as a way to honor an inspiring life well-lived, but also there’s money on the table, folks. $4000 of it! So here’s the warm fuzzy part, then we’ll get to the cash component. When Very Jane invited me to participate and spread the word to all of you, I chatted with my kids, Lily and Leo, about who the angels in our lives are. We have been blessed in our lives my many people, but the kids’ teachers were easily the front runners and won our nomination.

I have several teacher friends personally but didn’t really get a good glimpse inside the life of an elementary school teacher until my daughter hit 1st grade and I started volunteering in the classroom often. Mrs. T, pictured on the left above, was her teacher that year and she is the BEST. So wonderful, in fact, that we had to include her as our teacher angel even though neither of my kids is in her class this year!  I was (and still am) amazed by her patience, her ability to challenge each student at their current level, and her sense of humor. Like that one time the vocab word of the week was ‘precise’ and Lily drew a picture of she and I walking through the liquor store, me with a bottle of wine in my hand, with the caption, “I walk very precise” and Mrs. T laughed. Thank you, God. Because do all teachers think it’s funny that your kids know not to swing their arms around when buying wine?! I love this lady!

What’s the best thing about Mrs. T?

“She’s nice and she smiles a lot.” – Leo

“She makes me feel good when she smiles at me and is nice to me. I learned to spell so many words from her!” – Lily

Mrs. H, in the middle above, is Lily’s 3rd grade teacher. We absolutely love her. She has a warm smile and infectious laugh. Lily came home from school one day and said, “I really like Mrs. H, Mom. She reminds me of you. She’s always laughing and smiling and she can never find anything.”  I died laughing! It’s like we’re kindred spirits! Lily has learned so much from her and is really blossoming. She struggled in math during the beginning of the year but because of Mrs. H she has gained not only skills but also confidence and motivation to work hard to succeed. Priceless.

What’s the best thing about Mrs. H?

“She’s nice and she looks pretty. She’s really friendly to me.” -Leo

“She laughs and smiles a lot. She’s one of the most smiley teachers I’ve ever met! She’s taught me how to multiply.” – Lily

Ms. B, pictured on the right, is Leo’s kindergarten teacher. I help in her classroom once a week and she is just WOW. Getting a group of 5 year-olds to learn the way she has is just amazing to me. These kids can spell so many words, write complete sentences with proper punctuation, and the progress they’ve made since the beginning of the school year is just awesome to witness. My little guy Leo can get wild ‘n crazy and when we asked how he was doing at parent-teacher conferences Ms. B said that he has a lot of fun. He sits with his other little boy friends and they can get a little rambunctious but they’re having a good time and that’s what she wants: them to enjoy school. How cool is that, to have a teacher with that attitude?  She’s a rare gem.

What’s the best thing about Ms. B?

“She’s really nice and I make her laugh a little bit. She’s teaching me how to read!” – Leo

“She’s nice to all the kids and very patient. She’s funny!” – Lily

ShareJaneLove Teachers with Kids DSThese three teachers have gone above and beyond to teach my kids and help them grow both academically and personally. And they’ve inspired me to be a patient teacher at home and given me ideas to help my kids with their education. I’ve seen them all have students in their classes that need a little extra help and they always go the extra mile, never giving up on anyone.  I am so thankful to each of them for being the angels in our lives and in the lives of all of their students.

So who is your angel? Not only do you get the chance to honor them publicly (which is fun!) but you just might win a wad of cash! Very Jane is giving away a total of $4000. That’s 10 winners that each get $200, PLUS their angel gets $200 too. (Ladies, if we win, we split it. No one tell the kids. Deal?  😉 )  Here’s the scoop:

Show them you care and then show them the money! But seriously, we all have those special people in our lives, the ones that come knocking on your door with a diet coke and sugar cookie in hand when your day has gone bad. The nurse that stayed past her shift every day to come check on the status of your family during a hardship. The co-worker that covers your shift so you can attend your daughters Christmas program. The teacher that selflessly goes the extra mile to make sure each student is learning properly. It is time to return the favor and #ShareJaneLove.

Nominate your Christmas Angel for a chance to win $200. The best part? You both win $200. But even better than that (yes it gets better) we will have 20 winning friends for a grand total of $4000!

So head on over to Very Jane, nominate your angel by sharing a picture on Facebook or Instagram using #ShareJaneLove and then enter the giveaway. Winners will be chosen from that giveaway widget so use it, don’t just post your picture and be done. $200 is at stake!

THANK YOU to all the angels and teachers out there doing good in the world.
You rock!

Lindsay, what a great tribute to these three wonderful women! It is no wonder why your kids (and you) love and look up to them. I have teachers who have been angels in my life because they truly care for their students and sacrifice so much. I’m glad your life has been blessed by their goodness. Thank you for sharing! xo!
