Disney is providing me with an expense paid trip to San Francisco for the #InsideOutEvent in exchange for my review of the events of the trip. No other compensation is given. The opinions and experiences in my posts are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
I have been so excited for this movie, INSIDE OUT, ever since seeing the first teaser trailer. My family loves the Disney Pixar films and this one just looks so fun and colorful with a truly unique plot. Meet all the voices inside your head? Inside your tween daughter’s head? I mean, I’m both fascinated and scared! And I know I’m going to cry too.
I am thrilled to have been invited to attend a special press event at Disney/Pixar in San Francisco and can’t wait to share all the behind-the-scenes scoop with you! I’ll be interviewing filmmakers and getting a look at some of the film footage (it’s not quite done yet so I’ll have to wait until June to see the whole thing with everyone else!), plus viewing LAVA, the short film that will show in front of INSIDE OUT. We’ll also be screening Disneynature’s MONKEY KINGDOM which hits theaters on April 17 and looks totally adorable. I have always loved (and collected!) monkeys. Finally we’ll have a day to explore The Walt Disney Family Museum and soak up some Disney history. All of this sounds like so much fun, such a great experience and I’ve never been to San Francisco so I’m really looking forward to it. The event is Monday March 30 through Wednesday April 1. I hope you’ll follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see all the fun photos I share along the way!
Take another look at both films and if you have specific questions you’d like answered, lay ’em on me!
INSIDE OUT releases on June 19
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
INSIDE OUT – Trailer
I cannot wait to see more of this one. It looks so, so good, don’t you think? And I’ve never been inside of Pixar so that’s going to be an AWESOME experience to share with you!
MONKEY KINGDOM releases on April 17
Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family is forced to relocate, and she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to lead them to untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future.
Disneynature’s MONKEY KINGDOM – Trailer
For every ticket sold opening week (April 17-23, 2015), Disneynature will make a donation to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats. Three cheers, Disneynature! Love that they do this, and I can’t wait to see the movie and tell you my thoughts. I’ve loved all the Disneynature movies I’ve seen and I’m sure this one is going to be fantastic.

I can’t wait for this one also. I don’t know if it’s because I’m an avid reader or because I’m good at reading other people, but I’m aware of emotions. It amazes me that not everyone can understand how someone feels. I have family members that I really want to see this movie with, to generate discussion. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and have become chronically ill. Being able to communicate about emotions with others would help me a lot. I also think this would be a great way for kids to understand that they’re not the only ones who feel the way they do. My brother was in his thirties at the time, but he committed suicide. So many younger people do the same because they don’t feel understood. Open communication about emotions would help so much, at least in my opinion. I hope Inside Out turns out to be as good as the teasers look. I will definitely be following to see how your trip goes. Monkey Kingdom does look good as well. My family loves monkeys. They love my husband too. I’ve been with him at the zoo and seen their efforts to get his attention and how some of them make faces at him. My mother in law says that has happened ever since he was small. Monkeys love him for some reason. it;s hilarious to see.

Thank you so much for your comment Susan! It’s going to be a great trip and I’m so glad you’ll follow along. Terribly sorry to hear about your brother. Suicide and mental illness have touched my life too. Hugs to you. Great story about your husband! I love monkeys too and can’t wait to see this movie!!
