How to Make a Window Pane Signature Board
When you take the time to order a really gorgeous baby shower invitation, you want to keep it in a special place as a memory of your celebration! This DIY on how to make a window pane signature board is not only super easy, but a fun activity for your party guests and a really special keepsake for you and your baby.
The hardest part, I found, was finding the window frame! Be flexible in what you’re looking for. I had my heart set on a shabby, old and rustic looking window frame and just couldn’t find one. I did find plenty of mirrors (which would also work) that had only a frame around the outside, no interior dividers to create the panes of glass. You could place your photos and baby shower invitation within that glass and make it work, but I think it looks cutest if you’re able to find a piece of glass with panes.
I finally found this frame at a Home Goods store. Try your craft stores, antiques stores, and hit up anyone that you know that might know where to find something like this. I got some good suggestions from my crafty friends but I was pretty thankful when we pulled this one out of a pile of photo collage frames in the store!
Depending on what type of frame you’re able to find, place the invitation between the glass or secure it with double-sided tape. I added a couple of BEAUTIFUL pregnancy photos to add balance and to sweeten up the project. Don’t you love it?! (This is my hairdresser and friend – she is a total doll!)
When your guests arrive, ask them to leave a short message for the baby on the glass. I tried a few different markers and the best thing I found is a good old fashioned black Sharpie. I have a million colors of Sharpies, but they just don’t show up on the glass very well and appear faded. Black stands out and if you make a mistake, it can easily be removed if you do it quickly. If you let it sit for a while, you’re going to have to use a little more elbow grease but it can be done.
This is a fun way to greet guests at the door and also a nice way to spread out some of the activity at your baby shower. Sometimes everyone is crowded around one food table or one game, and it’s nice to have a few different ‘stations’ for people to hit and keep traffic flowing, so to speak.
This signature board also serves as decor for your party, and when the event is over, you have a beautiful keepsake to hang in baby’s room! Once your baby has arrived, you might want to swap out the invitation for a Basic Invite birth announcement. How special for your little one to have all these messages of love!
Visit Basic Invite to order your customized baby shower invitations and wow all of your party guests, plus have something beautiful for the centerpiece of your window pane signature board!

Hi! I love the whole baby shower window idea. This my daughters first baby and it is a girl and my first grandchild.?we have already had her shower and I want to make like keepsake window with pictures and invitations but don’t know how to stick the photo and invites plus would like to have the baby’s name in the middle of on frame. I like when there is a background from paper? What kind of paper, burlap, that kind of thing. I see ideas like yours but don’t know what to do once I have bought the frame. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Kelli! Congratulations on the new baby on the way! If you want a border around your photos, I would just use cardstock. You can stick it to the back of the photos with double sided tape (craft stores will have little double sided tape tabs in the scrapbooking section). You can use that same tape to attach it to the pane of glass in the window. If you want the baby’s name in the middle of the frame, you could either print that on cardstock, or I once did something similar for a gift and hired a local calligrapher to write the names for me in a fancy font. Hope that helps!
