What Does YOUR House Smell Like? Febreze #Noseblind Challenge + Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Febreze. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Dog

We have 3 pets in our house, 2 cats and a dog, and sometimes I do wonder, what does it smell like in here? I mean, I live here. I’m in this place all day long and while I never notice an animal smell, it wouldn’t necessarily surprise me to find out that visitors do.  Yikes. Sort of embarassing.  I just had my Mom who was visiting from out-of-state, and a friend come over for movie night to participate in the Febreze Noseblind Challenge.  Oooh, science! Let me tell you what we did.

So being ‘noseblind’ means that when you live in an environment you sort of get used to it and are ‘blind’ to the regular scent of that place. In other words if my house smells like pets, I might not have the faintest idea.  The Febreze Noseblind Challenge is a fun little experiment and eye-opening, too.  It’s a 3-parter:

  • First my guests completed a survey online about the dominant smell in my house. I didn’t ask and they didn’t tell!
  • Then we popped some popcorn to get ready for movie night!  They filled out a second survey immediately after the popcorn was popped.
  • We watched a movie on Netflix, then they filled out a third survey.

After that we discussed the results.  My mom and friend both said that after the movie the popcorn smell had dissipated and they didn’t really smell it at all anymore. Maybe because we ATE all of it!  But I wonder if another visitor had walked in after the movie, if they’d have smelled popcorn. You really do get accustomed to the smells in your home and who knows what visitors are smelling when they stop by? Sort of a scary thought.Febreze

Febreze makes a variety of products that trap and eliminate odors, not just mask them, so you don’t even have to worry that your house might smell like your husband’s sweaty socks (okay, mine does NOT, I am sure of that much!) because you can quickly and easily freshen everything!  I am sort of sensitive to too much aerosol in a room, but I do like the light, natural scent of the Febreze Meadows & Rain Air Effects. I just wouldn’t let the kids go crazy spraying it!

Febreze Candle

My favorite products are the Febreze Fabric Refresher and Candle. They work great to freshen the smell of the air, a light natural fragrance. Perfect!

So tell me. What does YOUR house really smell like?  Or don’t you know? It’s a scary thought! Invite a couple of friends over to do the Febreze Noseblind Challenge in  your house!  Be sure to follow Febreze on Facebook and Twitter to find out about their latest products and promotions.

Febreze Noseblind Challenge

Febreze is generously offering one of my readers the same product pack that I received plus a $60 American Express Gift Card!

  • 1 Febreze Air Effects
  • 1 Febreze Fabric Refresher
  • 1 Febreze Noticeables with refill
  • 1 Febreze Candle

This giveaway is open to US residents only, ages 18+ and will end on August 4, 2014 at 11:59pm ET.

Good luck!
