I have been listening to Rod Stewart since I was a kid. I even saw him in concert once when my Mom took my sister and me. We had a blast and left with some t-shirts and great memories of my Mom belting out “…and you think I’m sexy, come on sugar let me know!” My Mom is awesome. What can I say? Now that I’m a fun mom myself, I love to dance and sing with my kids. So I was pretty excited that Rod’s record label, Verve Music Group, gave me the chance to review his brand spankin’ new holiday album, “Merry Christmas, Baby“!
This CD comes out in stores on October 30 so we’re getting a sneak peek before you can even buy it. As soon as it arrived in the mail I put it in my laptop and the dance party in the kitchen commenced. This is a great CD regardless of whether you’re a long-time fan of Rod’s. With 16 songs, it’s got all the Christmas classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, White Christmas, Silent Night, Auld Lang Syne, and Blue Christmas to name a few. Plus there’s an awesome new song called Red Suited Super Man. This one happens to be my pick for swinging the kids around. The album includes duets with Michael Bublé, Cee Lo Green, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mary J. Blige. I have to say I was a little leery of a Cee Lo and Rod duet but they sing a mean “Merry Christmas, Baby” together! That’s my pick for swinging my husband around. 😉 Here’s the complete track list:
