Memorial Day was not too long ago and many of us are still thinking about our friends, family, and countrymen who are risking their lives for our freedom. P&G and Dollar General are also thinking about these servicemen and women. It’s with this in mind that Dollar General chose Sparky Edwards, a retired and decorated military veteran, as its Every Day Hero for June 2013. Sparky, who was once an at-risk teen, changed his life thanks to the National Guard youth academy. He earned his GED, entered the military, and now is a successful business owner, pursuing his PhD, and volunteers by mentoring at-risk teenagers.
Pretty impressive, right? Who’s the Every Day Hero in your life? I love companies that recognize the contribution of our veterans and honor them. Three cheers for P&G and Dollar General!
