We are big time tea drinkers in my house, especially my husband who I think might have an addiction. The whistle of the tea kettle is pretty constant around here and is sounding more and more frequently now that cooler weather has arrived. Obviously that makes tea the perfect holiday gift so around this time of year I’m shopping for something unique to stuff in my husband’s stocking. I happened upon Fusion Teas and was excited to have the opportunity to sample four of their loose teas.
Fusion Teas is a small, family-owned company based in Dallas, Texas, which appeals to me because I love supporting a family just like mine. I also love shopping with them because they have a huge selection of really unique herbal tea blends. I’m sure you know that tea is healthy, full of antioxidants that protect you from the effects of aging and pollution. Tea is also believed to protect against cancer, increase metabolism, and strengthen your immunity. It’s a power food for sure and when you need a zero-calorie warm-me-up this winter, tea’s your answer. It’s nice once in a while to find foods that are so amazingly healthy for you that actually taste good. Fusion Teas not only taste good, but they come in so many cool blends that you’ll never get bored sampling different varieties. Let me tell you about the four we sampled and which ones we liked best.
Super Fruit Sencha Green Tea: This one was my favorite of the four that we sampled. This tea was really smooth, not at all bitter which some teas can be. It had a light fruity taste but nothing overpowering. It definitely tasted like a green tea, not a fruity tea. It was ‘bright’ without being sweet. Ingredients: Green Tea (80%), Gojiberries, lemon grass, pomegranate arils, flavoring, cornflower blossoms.
White Thunder White Tea: This was my husband’s favorite and I really liked it, too. This tea is very refreshing and we thought it would be excellent in the afternoon to perk you up when you’re feeling like giving into the urge to siesta. The mint flavor is just right to be lively but not overwhelming. Here’s a quote from my hilarious husband: “It’s enough to for a crisp flavor and not so much that it tastes like a shamrock shake.” Ingredients: Bai Mu Dan white tea, peppermint, spearmint.
Key Lime Ceylon Black Tea: This tea has a great tropical aroma and beautiful tone that make it tasty for both your mouth and eyes. The citrus flavor is really subtle and combined with just a touch of pineapple, it has sort of an exotic taste. We liked that the black tea in this one is organic! Ingredients: Organic black tea, black tea, pineapple, natural flavors, lemon peel, lime leaves, stevia, lime juice, lime bits.
Islander Oolong Tea: Islander Oolong has a wonderful, sweet earthy flavor. Marigold petals and passion fruit flavor come together with the oolong tea to create a kind of tropical taste. As a added bonus, these leaves can be steeped multiple times! Ingredients: Oolong Tea, marigold petals with passion fruit flavor.
You can see we really loved these teas and we had fun sampling all the flavors we tried. You can buy small sample sizes in all the flavors which would make an awesome holiday sampler gift for anyone: friends, teachers, family, tea-addicted husbands, too. They also sell some really cool teaware if you need a brewer, teapot, or stylish mugs. We’re not big tea drinkers (I like it occasionally if I’ve already had WAY too much caffeine), but the White Thunder White Tea sounds like something I’d try. Thanks for the review – I know where to go now when I’m searching for tea gifts! 🙂
