I was provided with a complimentary  Funky Loomz Kit to facilitate this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

**REMINDER:  You can still use code PANDORA2013 to get 20% off your order from Funky Loomz. They have a lot of discounts right now, all orders ship free, and if you order by Friday December 20 you should be in good shape for Christmas delivery.  Do the math before you order. For me it was a better deal to order an entire kit rather than individual bags of bands for my kids.

Has your family gotten swept up in the Loom crazy yet?  Because we are up to our neck in it at my house!  My daughter Lily has become amazingly skilled at making all these complex designs and she’s so good at it!  I’m impressed, and I now have a bunch of bracelets of my own to match every outfit in my closet.  We have to restock our band supply regularly so I was thrilled to find Funky Loomz, an online store that sells everything you need for your looming.  And all orders ship for free which is a HUGE selling point for me!

Funky Loomz Kit

Funky Loomz sent us their #2 kit to review which includes the loom, mini loom, hook, 11 colors of bands, clips, and a carrying case. This is the full package and the one you might if you’re just getting started. My daughter just about lost her mind when this arrived at our door.  As a mom I love the neat carrying case that keeps it all in one place.

Funky Loomz Rainbow Loom Kit

The colors of the bands are brilliant!  I haven’t seen some of these colors at the mall or craft stores. That teal color near the middle is so cool and one I haven’t seen before. And I’ve been around the Rainbow Loom block a time or two, folks.  The other thing that’s probably not possible to see from the photo is that these bands are a little bit ‘shiny’.  I don’t think that’s the word I’m looking for, but the other bands we have are less stretchy and we’ve had them dry out and break.  I haven’t seen that happen with these band and don’t think it will. Plus they have some tie dye colors I really want to grab for stocking stuffers!  Something else they have that I haven’t seen anywhere else are colorful clips!

Funky Loomz Loom

Thank you to reader Crystal for the image!

I couldn’t exactly tell from the website if this loom was going to be the name brand Rainbow Loom or an off brand.  Here’s the scoop: The loom is made in the same place as the original Rainbow Loom and is exactly the same, but the Rainbow Loom name is trademarked.  So the loom you’ll get is not going to say ‘Rainbow Loom’ on it, but these are the same thing.  This is a picture my reader Crystal sent me after receiving her Funky Loomz order. We have the original Rainbow Loom and I can tell you this one looks exactly the same to me.

Lily Looming

Here’s the scene at my house most days. Don’t worry, I do take it away from her and make her eat dinner and do homework once in a while.  ha! I’m kidding. We have a life outside of the Loom but she gets TONS of use out of this kit and Lily has always been a creative girl so I like seeing her learn new techniques and even make up some of her own.

Making Rainbow Loom Bracelet

This one she’s making is a very simple single chain.  If you’re worried that your kids may not be able to do it on their own, keep in mind that some of the bracelets are really quick and easy to make. And as they learn there are seemingly endless ways to expand on your Loom bracelet making skills.

Rainbow Loom Bracelets

See what I mean?  This isn’t even a little bit of the bracelets we have around here.  But they are so cool! I love them and my kids are wild about them. This is a great time to buy a kit or stock up on some new bands for your kids and save them for Christmas gifts.

i ordered two of these sets on wednesday based on your review. i got them today. the quick shipping is where the positive experience ends… my looms are NOT the original rainbow looms, rather they are the knock-off versions. so i went to the site to contact them regarding this and the #2 kit is now $10 cheaper than it was 2 days ago when i ordered it. a difference of $16 for 2 kits using the pandora13 code. i just sent them a message so we’ll see what happens, but right now i’m not a happy momma 🙁

Oh, Crystal! Thank you for letting me know. I’ll contact them as well. The loom I got was the original Rainbow Loom just as pictured in my post. I’ll get back to you!

the really upsetting part is that they are now priced cheaper than what i paid using the pandora13 20% off code 🙁 the regular price when i ordered was $44.99 bringing them to $35.99 with the code; now they are $34.99 and would be $27.99 using the code. i hope they at least refund me the difference!! i also shared the deal on my facebook page because i have so many friends and family with children who are obsessed with the loom band fad, too, and now i feel bad if they ordered when i did and are going thru the same disappointment. if someone is going to send a blogger something to review in expectation that their experience and opinions will be shared with their readers, then the product should be the same product that the consumers will receive… and the huge difference in price is just super upsetting… i feel totally ripped off 🙁 please let me know what you find out.

funky looms customer service did get back to me and i feel they are being very kind, even generous, in their effort to make things right. i feel it’s only fair since i took the time to document what i wasn’t happy about that i come back and update my opinions. i was impressed in the beginning with their quick shipping and am now also impressed with their customer service. apparently the looms are made in the same place the rainbow looms are produced but recently rainbow patented the name on theirs. i’m hoping the quality of the loom is the same but won’t really be able to comment on that until after christmas, as these kits were intended to be a gift. thanks for all your help lindsay 🙂

Thanks for coming back to update us, Crystal! I’m so glad this worked out for you. I’ve also been really impressed with their customer service. I bet your kids are going to love these kits for Christmas! 🙂
