Animal lovers are just my kind of people, especially those that choose to adopt. All of our pets have been rescues and they bring us such joy. Fellow animal lovers and a couple my local readers might recognize are doing something awesome.
WGAL’s Meredith Jorgensen and her husband Dr. Chris Cooke are generously sponsoring a FREE adoption weekend at the Humane League of Lancaster County this weekend April 26-28.
That means you can bring a little sweetie into your heart and home and give him the love he deserves without paying an adoption fee. This warms my heart so much! That’s my rescue, Sam, above. What would I do without this dog?!
Here’s the full press release. High five, Meredith and Chris! You rock!
April puddles bring furry cuddles! Thanks to the generosity of WGAL-News 8’s Lancaster County Reporter Meredith Jorgensen Cooke and her husband, Dr. Chris Cooke of Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, all adoptable pets at The Humane League of Lancaster County are free to a “grrreat” home from Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30, during its “Put a Spring In Your Step & Adopt a New Pet” Free Adoption Weekend!
“Our Humane League dogs are the love of our lives,” says Meredith of Barlie, a 13-year-old Yellow Labrador, and Molly, an 11-year-old Yellow Labrador/golden retriever mix. Her family also adopted Cana, a 4 year-old Manchester Terrier mix, from the Caribbean island of Canouan in 2014. “They make us laugh, love to cuddle and are wagging their tails when we get home. We want to share this joy with other families by sponsoring this Adoption Fee-Free Weekend.”
All pet adoption fees are waived during this spring-themed adoption weekend. Meredith writes, “Even on a cold, windy, rainy day our pound puppies are happy and full of fun – and usually muddy feet! Everyone should enjoy a pet’s unconditional love.”
Adoptions include Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-Day Adoption Health Guarantee, spaying or neutering (prior to adoption), vaccinations and microchip registration. Normal adoption policies still apply.
National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is observed each year on April 30, giving families one more reason to adopt a pet from the HLLC this weekend! “It’s important to us that pets have a safe, loving home,” Meredith explains. “We hope that families who don’t have to pay the adoption fee for an animal can instead use that money to buy food, toys and vet care for their new pet.”
Meet your new fur-ever friend and spring into a new season and a new life, together! To view the many pets available for adoption at the HLLC, visit humanepa.org/adoption or meet the animals at the shelter, in-person, during scheduled operating hours.
The HLLC is located at 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602. For more information about this exciting promotion, please call 717-393-6511 or email adoptlancaster@humanepa.org.
