Fragrant Holiday Gifts: Thymes Luxury Bath, Body & Home

A few weeks ago I was shopping in a neighboring town that has the coolest little stores.  It was in one of these quaint shops that my nose lead me to discover Thymes products.  While my friends were checking out the rest of the shop, I was wearing my sniffer out on an amazing candle.  I pulled out my cell and texted myself the name of this brand so I wouldn’t forget, then came home and got online to learn more.  Thymes makes some seriously amazing bath and body and home fragrance products.  If you are looking for a special gift this holiday season for a friend, a wife (hello, dear husband, I hope you’re reading this), a teacher, I found it for you!

Thymes is an American company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and I just love their philosophy.  They believe that fragrance inspires us to live more thoughtfully and fully.

“What makes a Thymes fragrance? It’s a scent that’s fresh and clean, instantly familiar yet remarkably engaging. Complex, yet never overpowering.”

It’s kind of poetic, right?  I’ll be honest.  I’m a busy mom.  Between getting up before dawn to get my kids ready for school, gymnastics, soccer, my job as a tutor, making dinner, paying bills…  You get the idea, right?  I don’t have a lot of time for poetry in my life.  If I get lucky I can find 15 minutes before bed to devour as much as possible of a good book before I can’t keep my eyes open anymore.  So when I totally fell in love with Thymes products in this little store in the next town, I took a minute to read about their company, read their philosophy, and I figured something out: they’re right.

I’m typing now with their Thymes candle burning next to me.  I feel inspired to write, I feel calmer than I normally do this time of night when I’m thinking of the 15 things I need to do before bed, and I feel like… an adult.  Oh my, did I say that out loud?  I think I did.  It’s the same feeling you get when you have a glass of wine.  You’re not drinking a Capri Sun with a plastic straw.  This is something special.  It’s something just for you to enjoy.  It’s amazing how a scent can give that to you.

It’s the same story in the morning when I use the Thymes body wash and lotion.  It’s a treat just for me.  No, I don’t share.  Back away from Mommy’s special products and no one gets hurt.  I want to tell you more about the actual products I use, but what I’m trying to communicate here is that Thymes products are special.  Their scents really are not overpowering.  They’re just enough to wake up your senses and make you present in the moment.  For a person who often feels scattered and pulled in a hundred different directions (raising my hand over here), that is a welcome change of pace.

So let me tell you specifically about the Thymes products I’ve been using.  I’m burning the Bitter Orange & Cedar Candle right now and it smells amazing.  It’s perfect for fall, kind of woodsy but not at all pine-scented.  I’m not a big fan of knock-you-over fragrance and I can honestly say the amount of fragrance coming off this candle is perfect.  It’s  a light scent, but not so light that you don’t notice it.  I asked my husband to describe it and he said it’s kind of ‘caramel-y.”  He comes up with the most interesting adjectives.  This morning my 3 year-old son sniffed it and said it smelled like pineapple juice!  So combined I think we’d say it’s a little citrusy, a little spicy, and a lot warm and sweet.

I also have been using the Azur Body Wash and Azur Body Lotion.  I love this stuff, and I really love using them together.  This is my special treat in the morning, getting a shower with these products.  Both of these products are made with skin-conditioning sea nutrients and they smell wonderful.  The body wash lathers up nicely and it’s just the perfect wake-me-up-without-knocking-me-out scent.  It’s refreshing, like waking up at the beach.  The scent of the lotion is the same: clean and refreshing. Using both is like being at the spa every day!  I wish I were better with the olfactory adjectives.   That doesn’t seem to do these products justice.  They’re…well, they’re perfectly amazing.  The scent is just the right amount of fragrance to stay with you throughout the day without being too much.

I love the idea of giving Thymes products for holiday gifts.  To me, the holidays are a time to buy something for someone they normally might not buy themselves.  Back to that whole busy mom thing – this is a luxury for me.  We all know people in our lives we’d like to indulge, or people we’d like to have indulge us!  Thymes products are special while being practical and  they last making them a good value for the money.

Be sure to follow Thymes on Facebook and Pinterest to be the first to hear about their latest products and promotions.  Shop around on the Thymes website and see what you can find.  Their selection of bath and body products and home fragrances is fantastic.  It’s hard to choose, but whatever you land on I know it will be a favorite gift this holiday season!

Thymes is generously offering my readers a chance to win a beautiful Bitter Orange & Cedar Candle ($32 value) of their own!  This giveaway is open to US residents only and runs from October 2 through midnight ET on October , 2012.  Enter to win here!

I was provided with complimentary Thymes products to facilitate this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.
