Thanks for the article! I didn’t know much about Autism, but I assumed that people with Autism had the same “symptoms” and turns out that it’s totally not true. Just the other night, one of my friends said that she thinks that her oldest son has autism and was totally worried. I can only imagine what everyone goes through.

I like that it pointed out that no two people with autism should be compared b/c it can affect everyone differently.

I learned that it is also a spectrum disorder as no 2 people are alike. not always translating to displaying affection or not. I have a grandson on the spectrum edge.

My best friend’s son, Alden, is autistic and he detected the signs since his son was about 2 years old. Alden is a very quiet boy and he doesn’t really react to what’s happening around him. He doesn’t really socialize with the people around him but once he gets attached to that person, he’ll just get stuck with that person and in this case it’s his mother. When his mother gave birth to his younger brother, he cried in the hospital and insisted on staying there with her until she gets home.
I’ve watched Alden grows since he was young and he’s a very adorable kid. I remember letting him listen to Chasing Pavement by Adele on my iPod and he loved that song so much, he asked his dad to keep one in his dad’s phone too so that he could listen to it everyday. Alden is 5 years old now and he excels really well at school. He recently received an award for best student in his school. So proud of him.
My best friend ,Adam and his wife, Leah are very good parents. They are very supportive of each other and take care of the situation really well. Having an autistic child can be life changing and it takes a lot of patience to raise one too. I’ve seen how some parents vent their frustration on their children but Adam and Leah has done a terrific job and Alden is lucky to have them as parents.

I personally don’t know anyone with autism so this article was very informative. Making people like me aware of the characteristics and traits that a child or adult with autism may have will help us to spread the word and raise awareness in others. Thank goodness that there is some help out there, it would be wonderful if the underlying cause of it could be found so maybe there could be some things done to prevent it.

I don’t know anybody personally who has autism, but I admire any parents who have a child with it.  It takes so much strength and patience.

My friend from high school has a son with autism. She had to advocate very strongly for him to be put into a regular classroom – the school didn’t even want to try it to see if it might work. She didn’t give up, and he was able, with some extra help, to succeed, and have a good social relationship with the other kids. Kids with autism CAN FUNCTION! Don’t just assume they can’t do anything. Good article.

There are many people who are on the spectrum that you may not be aware have autism. It is more prevalent than people think.
