Dean’s Milk – Product Review

dean's Milk

Have you read all the articles lately about the ‘pink slime‘ in our food?  Ew.  I’ve been noticing lately all the junk that’s in the foods we eat, stuff we don’t even realize is there.  If you’re a milk drinker or have kids you serve it up to, I found a great option for us that doesn’t include nasties that you find in some other milks.

Dean’s Milk is a brand I hadn’t tried before but recently had the opportunity to review.  I learned something new about this brand, and I gotta tell ya, I was impressed.  Dean’s Dairy  puts their milk through what they call a Five Point Purity Checklist:

  • Their farmers pledge not to use Artificial Growth Hormones.
  • Milk comes from cows fed a nutritious diet.
  • They reject any milk that contains commonly used antibiotics.
  • Milk is tested for quality at every key step.
  • Milk is cold shipped from dairy to store within hours.

The big stand-outs to me are that they don’t use milk from cows fed antibiotics or Artificial Growth Hormones.  I have no idea why that’s even an issue.  Why is anyone putting this junk in our milk supply? It’s definitely not something I want to feed to my kids.  I typically buy organic milk, but it can be expensive.  Dean’s Milk is a great alternative versus the other stuff you’ll find on store shelves.

Right now Dean’s is giving away a $100 grocery gift card every week through Mother’s Day!  Wow!  Just head over to the Dean Dairy Facebook page, hit ‘like’ and then look for the Enter Now image to throw your name in the hat.  How cool would it be to win that?!

I know all the moms out there have been paying attention to the recent news about fillers in our foods.  Tell me, what do you look for in the milk you buy for your family?

I was provided with complimentary Dean’s Milk products to facilitate this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

I just thought I would let you know that of the 5 points purity checklist that Deans Milk uses, 4 of those points are true for ALL milk that you would purchase in a store, so that checklist is not unique to only Dean’s milk.

I’m glad you like this milk. It is a very popular brand in stores where I live, but I can’t figure out why. It tastes (and smells) horrible! I stopped buying it years ago, but ended up purchasing 2 gallons for my family recently when our normal store was closed for labor day. Nothing has changed from what I remembered about this brand. It tastes like it’s expired even though there’s a week left before the expiration date. I drank water for breakfast this morning because I just can’t choke this stuff down. It’s absolute awful.
