Every two months I send all my expired coupons to an Army Base I’ve adopted in Vilseck, Germany. The military families there are able to use them in their commissaries. Last night I finished adding up all my coupons and today my son and I braved some rainy weather to send off our package of coupons. This batch totaled $5634!
Check out my post on Couponing for The Troops to see how you can do this too! It’s super easy: I keep two big zip-top bags in the cupboard, one for food and one for non-food. Then as coupons expire, I stick them in the bag. Every two months I dump them out and add them up (you don’t have to do this, but it’s great to report so the Overseas Coupon Program can knows which bases still need couponers to adopt them, plus it’s easy since most coupons are $1), then I take them to the post office and mail them. I can stuff both bags in a mailer that costs me $5.95. So it costs very little to help out in this way. Read more about how you can do it, too, by going here!
