I send all of my expired coupons to an Army base I’ve adopted in Vilseck Germany. I chose Germany because my Dad served there, but there are bases all over the world that can use our expired coupons in the commissaries and PX stores as far out as 6 months past their expiration date! And I just love being able to do something useful with those coupons other than trash them.
I try to send a batch in every 2 months, but with the holidays time got away from me and it’s been longer than that since my last mailing. I finally got it all together and hit the post office with my little boy yesterday to mail out these two huge bags of coupons totaling a whopping $8,222 worth of coupons!
Yes, I actually added them all up. I report what I send to the Overseas Coupon Program so they know which bases need people to adopt them and which ones have plenty ‘o coupons! I think my base in Germany is in pretty good shape. 😉 It’s not all that hard to add them up, either, since most are for $1.
Anyone can do this and there’s no minimum amount to send. This mailing was huge so it cost me $7.95. Usually it’s a couple bucks cheaper than that. If you’re interested in donating your expired coupons, read more about it here!
