I was provided with a complimentary Norfolk Island Pine from Costa Farms to facilitate this review. The opinions in this post are 100% mine. You can read my full disclosure policy here.
It’s that time of year! The holiday season is here and decorating is one of our favorite traditions. We get a live Christmas tree every year, of which part of the fun is going out and cutting it down. But I am always bummed when it dries up and we have to get it out of the house before it blankets our living room in pine needles. I love the idea of decorating for the holidays with live plants and this beautiful Norfolk Island Pine from Costa Farms is perfect!
The folks at Costa Farms shipped a Norfolk Island Pine to me to review and share with you and it did get a little jostled in the box but I was able to fix that pretty quickly. You won’t need to worry about shipping because these plants are available at your local Lowes and other mass retailers. I took it outside to get the best light to take a picture to share with you, but this is actually an indoor plant and needs to be kept at 45 degrees Fahrenheit or above.
We have plans this weekend to break out our Christmas decorations so we’ll be adding a string of lights and a few little ornaments to jazz it up but I actually love the adornments it came with. It’s festive without being tacky. Let’s face it: Sometimes Christmas decorating can get tacky. 😉
The best thing about the Norfolk Island Pine is that it’s a year-round houseplant. So there’s no need to get rid of it after the holidays are over. It can bring you Christmas cheer all year round. Or, go ahead and take those lights off and enjoy it au naturale. I actually think it would be really fun to add some plastic eggs to it at Easter. The kids would definitely get a kick out of it!
I’ve got our Norfolk Island Pine on the chest in the foyer and it says ‘Christmas’ to everyone that walks through the door. I love what a live plant can do to bring life to your house, especially in these cold winter months when everything feels so drab.
Apparently we aren’t the only ones that enjoy this plant! We found our Elf, Tootsie, just chillin’ with a candy cane on the branches one morning. There are all kinds of ways to use a Costa Farms Norfolk Island Pine to bring holiday cheer to your home this season and beyond.
Check out the Costa Farms website for all kinds of really useful plant information and be sure to follow on Facebook and Twitter. I am loving some of their fantastic tips on decorating with houseplants on Pinterest, and their YouTube tutorials give great plant care advice. You can find these beautiful Norfolk Island Pines in Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and other mass retailers this holiday season. This year, get a tree that lasts!
Happy Holidays!
