Cocomo Joe: Organic Snacks Never Tasted So Good

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

I pack lunch for both of my kids every day that they go to school, and my daughter in first grade has to take a morning snack with her each day too.  I try to get a good bang for the buck in the health department: something tasty that they’ll eat but something that is also good for them that will fill them up and fuel their little brains.  The same rules apply to me.  I have a sweet tooth like nobody’s business but I can totally tell when I’ve made a good choice by eating healthy and when I’ve fallen off the wagon by eating junk.  You just FEEL better when you’re feeding yourself right.  So I love to find healthy new snacks to mix up what we’re all munching on each day and was really excited to discover this awesome company that makes the best organic treats, Cocomo Joe.

Cocomo Joe is located in California and was started by Joe (of course!) who, after discovering how many companies disguise their foods to try to make them look healthy when they’re actually not, decided to try his hand at creating the best organic products on the market.  I have to say, he’s a success in my book!  Cocomo Joe sent me a bunch of goodies to try and I shared them with my Mom the granola addict, and my husband and kids, too.  Let me tell you about their products!

My favorite, favorite, FAVORITE Cocomo Joe product is their Cocomo Corn. Here’s what’s in it: organic air popped corn, organic coconut nectar, organic coconut sugar, organic virgin coconut oil, sea salt, organic vanilla extract, and baking soda.  So this is actually healthy caramel corn!  And let me tell you guys, it is SO good.  I love caramel corn anyway but the flavor of this caramel corn is just so…REAL.  I don’t even know the right words.  It just doesn’t taste like a fake sweet sugar.  I’d compare it to the difference between store brand pancake syrup and real maple syrup.  You can totally taste the difference and the goodness in this popcorn.  It’s just perfect for a treat to satisfy that sweet tooth.

The next products we tried were the Joebars.   These are kind of like granola bars but they’re a little bigger than the kind you find in a box in your grocery store and they’re square shaped.  They come in six flavors: cocoa, coffee, cranberry, fig, green, and mango.  Again, these are made with totally organic ingredients.  My favorite was the mango bar.  Just a little bit sweet and nice and chewy!  I was a bit concerned with how many calories are in these bars.  You do have to remember when eating organic that you’re not necessarily eating low-calorie.  However, I wasn’t able to even finish half of this bar in one sitting so it ended up being a non-issue.  That’s the thing about healthy food: you can eat a reasonable portion and feel satisfied.  I had maybe a third of one bar and felt full enough to wrap the rest up and come back to it later.  I shared the Cranberry Joebar with my Mom and she said the same exact thing.  So if you get two or three snacks out of one bar you sure get a lot of bang for your buck!

Finally we were able to try the granola.  My husband loves granola and was munching on the Ginger Apple variety by the handful. My Mom helped us sample the Eggnog Granola which she likes to eat on yogurt.  I liked the Ginger Apple the best, too!  It’s crunchy and the ginger and apple are a great combination.  It has the sweetness of the fruit and the ginger adds just a little spice to it.

We really enjoyed all the Cocomo Joe products.  (Try the popcorn…wowza!)  Their philosophy in a nutshell is that food should be savored. It should be enjoyed at a slow, deliberate pace without mindlessly shoving it in.  When you eat mindfully you eat less and take better care of your body.  I definitely think their foods reflect this purpose.  Their flavors are rich and genuine and you can really eat just a small amount and feel satisfied.

Be sure to follow Cocomo Joe on Facebook and Twitter.  And when you’re ready for an awesome, healthy and wholesome snack shop around on their website or check them out on Amazon!  I will be grabbing more of that popcorn myself!

Cocomo Joe is generously offering one of my readers a fantastic prize pack that includes one of each of the six Joebars, one bag of granola (winner’s choice!), and two bags of Cocomo Corn!  This giveaway is open to US residents only and ends on December 21, 2012.  You can enter to win [HERE].

I was provided with complimentary  Cocomo Joe products to facilitate this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.
