Best Buy Mobile Specialty Stores & Zact: No-Contract Smartphone You Customize On the Spot

This post may contain affiliate links. View my disclosure policy for details.

I have been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Zact

Our cell phone bill is one of our biggest monthly bills.  We haven’t made the decision to cut the landline just yet, though we’re thinking about it.  It seems we spend a small fortune every month on our phones.  I know we’re not the only ones in this boat and the thought of what will happen when the kids are old enough to need phones…yikes.  So I was really interested in this cool phone available at Best Buy Mobile Specialty Stores called Zact.  You can totally customize your plan and only pay for what you want and what you use.  And if you find you need more of anything (minutes, texting, data), just add it on the spot right from your phone. Genius.

There are a few things that make the Zact plan a standout:

There’s no contract.  You just pay as you go per month. No contract means no outrageous cancellation fees.  Three cheers for that!

You can customize your plan right from your phone.  Choose your monthly allowance of talk, text, and data right from the Zact app on your phone.  If you find you need more of anything during the month you can go in and add it.

If you don’t use it, you won’t pay for it.  If you end up adding more minutes, texting and data than you need, you’ll only pay for the plan that covers what you used.  Now how cool is that?  Zact’s philosophy is that we’re probably not using all the minutes on our phone that we’re paying for so this should save a lot of people a bundle.

There are usage controls build it which are great for parents.  Don’t want your kids talking and texting after a certain time at night? You can control that with this phone. You can also limit the number of texts each kid sends so one of them doesn’t eat up the whole family’s allowance. I love this idea!  And you can share the same pool of minutes, data, and texting with anyone, no extra line fees apply.

Zact Phones

There are two great phones available with the Zact plan.  My husband has the Samsung Galaxy S3 (on the left) and that is a great phone. The other one available for Zact is the ZTE Awe which is much less expensive than the S3.  You do still need to buy the phone to be able to use the Zact plan.

This video explains everything.  I just watched it and it makes understanding how Zact works a snap.  Take a look.

Zact is offering exclusively in Best Buy Mobile Specialty Stores. There are 414 stores nationwide and I didn’t realize this, but they’re located in malls and shopping centers, not Best Buy Stores. What I like is that the staff is highly trained to help you, and they’re not working on commission so they don’t have any incentive to steer you one way or the other.  They’re just there to find you the best phone for you!  Plus of course they can set up and activate your new phone, transfer your contacts and data and get you on your way.  Find your nearest Best Buy Mobile Specialty Store and then pop in and learn more about Zact.

I think Zact is a great solution for anyone, but families in particular, that want to save money on their cell phone bill. And really, who doesn’t, right?
