I sort of have a love-hate relationship with the holidays. I love the magic of the season, all the fun traditions, and spending time with my friends and family. But it’s stressful in a way that no other time of year is, and that can make it challenging to enjoy the things that are truly important. Connecting with your loved ones is made easier by technology, and with Verizon Unlimited I can talk, text, FaceTime, and social media the heck out of my family and friends even when I’m living the overwhelmed-mom-at-Christmastime life. Here’s how I’m staying connected this year.
Stay Connected With Family Over The Holidays
Go Old School and Make a Phone Call
Add it to your to-do list just like you do everything else, and take the time to make a phone call to a family member or friend you don’t get to talk with often. Letting someone know you’re thinking of them and want to talk with them is a gift to both of you.
Sent a Text
If you truly can’t find the time for a phone call, the next best thing is a text message. I will try to call the people that I can, but there’s no way I can talk to everyone on my Christmas list, so I’ll be using that unlimited data to send lots and lots of text messages. “Just wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you and wish you and your family a merry Christmas!” How much would you love to get this message from your best friend from high school? Your college roommate? Make time to be the person who brightens a day.
Get Together
If it’s not too far, try to get together, and make it a productive meet up if you don’t have time to sit in a coffee shop and gab. Even a trip to Costco is fun with your BFF. Cross a few items off your shopping list with your mom or sister. Pick out a new wreath for the door with your neighbor. We’re all running around like crazy. Might as well make it memorable!
Send Cards
When most of the mail is bills and catalogs from every company under the sun, it’s awesome to get a real card from your friends and family. There are tons of places to order your cards. Pop in a photo (and really do a photo – people want to SEE you!), write your greeting, and many of them will even address them for you if you upload your address book. In other words, this doesn’t require too much effort but it’s so worth it.
What are you doing to stay connected with your loved ones this holiday season?
