My daughter is 10 now and that girl has a head of hair like Rapunzel. For a long time she wasn’t overly interested in styling it but as she’s gotten older she’s asking me more and more to do her hair. I personally have pretty short hair, and I’m admitedly not a great stylist, so the right tools are really important. This is the 32mm Magic Wand, a bigger size (they do come in different diameters) and is perfect for creating beachy waves, loose curls and just adding some nice body. This curling wand is really different than anything I’ve tried before. You might be able to tell that it doesn’t have a clip to grasp the hair. You wear the protective glove pictured above to wrap your hair around the wand, and then release it.
I’m not sure if I’m a fan of this or not. On one hand you don’t get that weird crimp in your hair that the clip often leaves. But on the other, it really is tricky, at least for me, to handle your hair with a glove on. Perhaps if you’re more dexterous and skilled at this than I am it’s not so much of an issue.
You can read some of the highlights of this product above. One thing I really like is the digital temperature reading. It heats up super fast which is awesome when you’re rushing in the morning like we always seem to be. The wand is very lightweight, too, so it’s not cumbersome to handle.
What did we think? My daughter loved these loose, beachy waves. Her hair is generally pretty straight, though it’s quite thick, so she enjoyed having more curl to it. I like the look too! I feel like I might need a little more practice to get more curl in there. Her hair is very long and it didn’t fit all the way around the wand without sliding off (this is where maybe a clip works better?) so I think I really just curled the ends, but I guess that’s the style anyway!
