It’s Chocolate Covered February in Hershey, PA! A whole month celebrating chocolate? Yes, please! Throughout the entire month of February there are events planned all over Hershey to celebrate. A chocolate lover’s paradise!
We were invited to attend the Chocolate Dinner Extraordinaire last Friday at The Hotel Hershey and WOW. I almost don’t have words to tell you how amazing it is. The Hotel Hershey itself is just gorgeous. This is a look from the Mezzanine down into the Fountain Lobby.

If you’re like me and don’t have date night nearly often enough, you’ll know what a treat this was for my husband and I. Not only did we enjoy getting away without the kids for a night, but the food, wine, and atmosphere were just fantastic. This is the 12th year for this annual dinner and we were told some couples come back every year! I can believe it – I already want to go next year!

You can take a look at the full menu here. One of my favorites was this appetizer, a Chilled Cocoa-Chili Prawn with Gingered Butternut Squash Puree, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Pickled Red Onions. Amazing! I would never think to come up with these combinations (this is why I’m not a chef!) but they work so well together.

The Intermezzo was this Prosecco Blood Orange Sorbet which was delicious. I’m not sure I’d ever had an intermezzo before, but it’s used to cleanse the palate between appetizers and the main course. Soooo good! My husband said it tasted like a Sweet Tart and it really did!

I chose the Spiced Cocoa Rubbed Tenderloin of Beef with Whipped Potatoes with Caramelized Red Onions, Roasted Carrots & Parsnips, Scallions, and Madeira-Chocolate Sauce for my entree. Do I need to say more? It was delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked. And with every course came glass of wine that was paired just right with the food. I loved that and it made the meal so special, like an exploration of tastes!

The grande finale was dessert, this Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte with a Pink Peppercorn Meringue, and Blackberry Merlot Sauce. I could barely eat any more but we’re not quitters over here, so we got ‘er done. Amazing. It was just amazing, and we had such great company at our table. This would be such a fun thing to do with your friends. And let me tell you, it was SO much food and drink. You absolutely would get your money’s worth and then some.
Fortunately there’s lots more to come in Chocolate Covered February that you still have time to participate in! Some events to not miss:

- Chocolate Dessert Journey and Hershey’s Chocolate World
- Martini Mixology at the Hershey Lodge
- Truffles for Couples at The Hershey Story Museum
