A Front Porch Thank You + Free Printable

December 1, 2017

I do almost all of my holiday shopping online so I get packages delivered to my front door on a daily basis. What would we do without our delivery drivers? We might have to brave the mall. Horrors! To say thank you to those that are making my life easier by working so hard this winter, I am leaving a front porch thank you treat for them. Here's a free printable sign for you to make one, too!

If you’re like me and doing most of your holiday shopping online, you’ve got a regular line of UPS, FedEx, and USPS delivery folks coming to your door daily. My Mom used to be a letter carrier so I know exactly how hard this job is, especially in the cold winter months. As more and more of us click to order, their jobs get tougher.

But they sure do make my life easier! So to say thank you for making the holidays a bit more manageable for me, I leave a basket of treats on the front porch.

I’ve had to refill a few times now so though I think it’s been well received! I decked out the basket with a pretty bow (actually my Mom did that part – she’s the family bow maker!) and added small bottles of water and some Sun Chips that I got at Costco in bulk. Amazon has them too! If you don’t have a basket like this one, a metal or plastic tub or tote would work too. Check Michael’s or AC Moore for some good deals. Here are a few cute containers:

I think I’m going to grab something different next time I shop and mix it up a bit, but I’m going to avoid junk food. No one that’s out delivering packages in the dark needs to be in a sugar coma, right? Maybe some trail mix would be a good idea.

You are welcome to use this free printable sign for your basket too! Click here, or click on the image above to get the printable size. There are 2 per sheet in case you need a practice run! I have a couple spares set aside just in case the elements get the best of my sign, though I did take it to Staples with me last time I was there and paid a small amount to get it laminated.

Then I used packing tape to attach my sign to a ruler (also from Staples for $.99!) and tucked it into our treat basket. Cute, right? And I like to think it brings a smile to the faces of our delivery people. Everyone likes to know their work is appreciated, especially when they’re working their tail off.

Grab your free printable here, and if you have some suggestions on other goodies for my basket, leave a comment below and let me know!
