Beanfields Snacks: Delicious and Healthy Chips!

December 11, 2012

My main snack tooth is a sweet one, but I love a good chip once in a while.  It’s true what they say: you can’t eat just one.  But I hate that most chips are full of fat and have no nutritional value whatsoever.  They might taste good but I don’t even keep chips in the house because it’s just asking for trouble.  So I was pretty excited to discover Beanfields Snacks!  They make some awesome flavors of chips that are made from beans and rice so they’re actually good for you. Imagine that!

Beanfields Snacks takes black and navy beans and blends them with long grain rice and cooks them in safflower or sunflower oil to create a chip that’s not only NOT bad for you, but actually good for you! They contain lots of fiber and protein – 4 grams of each per one ounce serving. That’s double most corn and potato chips!  And they’re farmed and made right here in the USA.  Beanfields Snacks are also gluten-free, cholesterol-free, trans fat-free, preservative-free and free of every one of the FDA’s eight most common ingredients that trigger food allergies.  WOW.  These chips are the real deal!  All of their Corn Free Bean & Rice Tortilla Chips are verified to be free of any genetically-modified organisms (non-GMO) and have received the prestigious Non-GMO Verification awarded by the Non-GMO Project!   I think they’ve covered every single base in the healthy department.  So how do they taste?

In a word? They taste awesome!  Beanfields Snacks come in five flavors: Naturally Unsalted, Sea Salt, Nacho, Salt N’ Pepper, and Pico de Gallo.  One thing I definitely noticed about these chips is that they’re more filling than a regular chip.  That’s a good thing because it means you might not eat the entire bag in one sitting!  You can taste the bean flavor which I thought was really good and they’re nice and crispy too.

These are all the goodies they sent me to review!  We recently went on a weekend trip and the smaller bag sizes were perfect for the road.  Of the five flavors my favorite chip was the Sea Salt.  They taste great on their own, or dip them in some guacamole or salsa.  Just enough of that natural sea salt taste to give it some extra flavor but they’re not overly salty.  Perfect!  The Salt & Pepper chips were really good, too, but I could only eat a few of them before the pepper became too much for me.  That’s probably not a bad thing!

My husband and kids loved the Pico de Gallo the best!  These are a little zippy, just a bit of heat to them but they’re not too spicy.  They have a great flavor and these, too, are perfect with some salsa.  I liked to eat them with mango salsa for a nice contrast between the sweet fruit and the hot chip!  You can tell just by looking at them that they’re a substantial chip packed with flavor.  YUM!  We really did love them!

Beanfields Snacks are a really great alternative to the regular potato and corn chips you probably usually buy.  I love that I can pop a few and feel no guilt about eating anything unhealthy.  I’m actually glad to have a means for getting some extra protein and fiber into my diet!  See if Beanfields Snacks are sold in store near you, or shop online and have them delivered right to your door.  Be sure to follow Beanfields Snacks on Facebook and Twitter, too!  You’ll be the first to hear about their latest products and promotions.

Beanfields Snacks is generously offering an awesome prize pack to one of my readers: a half-case of chips! That’s 6 bags, winner’s choice of flavors!  YUM!  This giveaway is open to US residents ages 18+ only and ends on December 18, 2012.  You can enter to win [HERE]!

I was provided with complimentary products from Beanfields Snacks in exchange for this review.  The opinions in this post are 100% mine.  You can read my full disclosure policy here.
